Re: poping out of the tail pipe

I guess it could be bad gas, i had about 1/4 tank, it sat for 6 months, i filled it with ninety four octane, i unplugged the connector, set it to zero and hooked it back up, datamaster shows no codes, it shows about 25-30 degrees timing at idle (custom chip) worked flawless before the engine rebuild, the only thing that was changed was the valve spring pressures slightly, i disconnected the battery to reset the ecm how long should i leave it unhooked? i only unhooked it for five minutes, any help would be appreciated  i am pulling my hair out

Re: poping out of the tail pipe

what did you do to it getting it back on the road? are you starting from a scratch built motor, or was it just parked a while and your trying to get it running again?

The engine spun a bearing, it was pulled out completly rebuilt and put back in, i am going to recheck my timing i think it may be out ,it is a completly built motor made 610hp and 750 tq

Re: poping out of the tail pipe

check where the timing mark is on the balancer in relation to the crank keyway. It should be almost directly on top of the keyway. Assuming you still have the stocker that is.

sounds like its been on a dyno since the rebuild? engine dyno or chassis? So what else has changed since the dyno besides maybe the timing? Or was this the numbers before the refresh?

Re: poping out of the tail pipe

If you have a wide band o2 hooked up, check your AFR you're most likely very lean.. idle should be 14's I bet your in mid to high 15's if your popping out the exhaust
