Right on man, thanks for that info :tup: I have a ton of spare polished 12-point ARP fasteners. Will go ahead and Dremel cut them down to the correct length like you suggested. Could you also confirm you had to tap the holes?

Yes you have to chase the treads as they were not done after the powder coating.

How is your truck coming along? Did you finish the tune? I will be doing the same with Nolan, just wondering how it worked out for you? And please let me know if you got that PG install stuff.

OK, will do. Truck is nearly finished. Just ordered a PST carbon fiber driveshaft from Waller. Once that arrives, I can install the RPM chromoly crossmember/loop with the new shaft and start tuning this beast. Nolan got it running pretty damn strong on just 15psi with no meth. We really haven't started pushing it yet as I've been busy with the 4l80e conversion and front coil-overs. I plan to take it to Infineon this Spring and start leaning on it with race gas and meth. Most likely, I'll get kicked out for running 11.49 or faster with no cage, fuel cell, battery box, etc. Not sure what I'm going to do about that yet, but don't really want to hack up my truck...it's not a racecar.

Is the upper ball joint installed correctly in this pic?? I see where the RPM instructions show it mounted beneath the control arm :dunno:

I mounted mine from the top as Mr. Wheeler has his. The factory A-arms are done like this as well.

Reviving this thread as my front end is still not right. I took the truck to LIVE1053RULZ's wheel and tire shop a while back and we leveled both sides and then adjusted camber and toe. Aside from tearing one of the CV boots, the big problem was that the passenger and driver side spring adjustments are way off...that was the only way to get both sides to sit level. The passenger side coilover spring adjuster ring is tightened down much farther than the one on the driver's side. The truck bounces sideways when going over bumps since one side is softer than the other. The shock adjusters are both set identically. I have to rip the MF passenger side axle back out to have the CV boot replaced and I'd like to know why the spring adjustments are so far off on both sides. I'm not happy at all with the way the truck steers and handles right now. I guess JSM is no longer making coil-overs so I have no choice but to fix this or go back to stock suspension. I don't have the stock parts anymore, so that's not an option. Anyone else have trouble getting the coil-overs adjusted evenly and their truck to sit level?

Looks like dutchty had the same issues with passenger side CV boot rubbing on the spring. Anyone find a solution for this? If I take my CV axle to a driveline shop, will they be able to put on a lower profile boot?

Are these replacement axles from Autozone?
If so, then yes, get a GM replacement boot. I had the same problem when I installed the TurboTime budget coilovers.
When trimming the suspension for clearance I nicked one of the boots. I said F' it might as well replace them with new axles. Once I nstalled them I realized the boots were different shapes than the stock boots.
I then went to the dealer and bought 2 new replacement boots for $120 (ouch). This resolved the clearance problem.

Those springs were adjusted the same way on most of the JSM arms I saw as well. It has to do with how the truck is weighted. The trucks are naturally heavier on the drivers side. I have speculation as to why, but who knows really. The adjusters will HAVE to be off in order to get the truck to sit level. They would only be the same if the truck was perfectly balanced left-to-right (which they obviously aren't).

Unless you are running a progressive rate spring, the rate is the same throughout the travel. You are simply adjusting the preload on the spring. It will still take Xlbs per inch to compress the spring further.

It was the passenger side that was sagging lower and required more preload - not the driver's side. I will take some more pictures of the amount of threads showing on both shocks to compare the difference. I also realize that a true computerized alignment is probably in order. I'm wondering if maybe I overtightened the upper and lower shock bolts causing the shocks to bind some. Will check that and loosen them up a little if needed.

So the trick is to slide the inner boot farther inward before clamping to gain some additional clearance? If you have any pics showing the amount of clearance you have on the passenger side, I'd appreciate it.

In the description they call it an outer boot. The prices are different for an inner & an outer boot. So I don't think they are the same.

I clamped mine in the stock location on the axle.
I'll try to take a pic tonight for ya.

What do you have the shock dampners set to? I have mine set to the 2nd lowest setting, if start in the middle the truck jumps all over the place on bumps.

Yeah, that looks like the right part.
If you want, I bought the crimping tool & you can do the R&R yourself, but be warned, it's a greasy freakin' mess to do.

The clamp part of the boot sits in a well with a hump on each side of the well. This locates the boot correctly. You could try to move the boot past the hump, inward towards the CV. I didn't try that because I knew it cleared before with the stock boots in the stock location so I figured I'd install the new boot the same way.

I'll have to check again, but they were both set evenly when we adjusted it last. At first, they were near the softest setting and my truck bottomed out hard on both front cladding pieces melting the plastic on the inside The uneveness was much more evident when the damping adjusters were set on soft, but it still doesn't seem to rebound evenly. I will check the shock bolts for excessive tightness and make sure the damping adjusters are identical on both sides.

What do you have the shock dampners set to? I have mine set to the 2nd lowest setting, if start in the middle the truck jumps all over the place on bumps.
