Need help in deciding what transmission and trans to us in my 5.3ls Typhoon build?

I'm stuck in my decision to what transmission and transfercase to use. Here is what my plans are for my Typhoon. The engine is a 5.3 ls it is stock at this point I plan on putting a bigger cam and different heads . Im gonna put twin turbos not sure how big yet.I plan on keeping it All-wheel drive. Its the starting stages at this point so not many more details on what I want to do but Im not going too crazy just want some good power and reliability. I also dont plan on racing this or beating it up. I found a 4L60E from a 2000 Astro AWD and comes with transfer case. I am thinking about getting it and rebuild it but before I do I wanted to get any input I can.


1)What transmission should I use
2)should I use syty transfercase
3)What is the difference between AWD astro van and 4x4 4L60E trans and transfercase if any.

I'd go:
4L80e
stock transfer case
can't tell you

the stock transer case has been proven strong. the 4L80e as well.

depends if you want od,turbo400 is what i am doing if my 700 ever breaks,way to much cash for a 80,a 700 will work you just need to let a very few build it or it wont last!

I did want OD better drivability. I found a 4L80E for $200 but it 2 wheel drive and from a 1992 chevy. Whats involved in converting a 2 wheel to a 4? Would the year model make a difference is bolt patterns different? Internals dont matter Im just gonna rebuild it anyway.

I have a 700 in my garage but 2 wheel. I was thinking about that but I had so many issues w my 700 in my TTA.

80e all the way. it is not cheap but worth it. It does not need to be built, and you just put a new tc in it and a trans-go kit and be done.

without a really good tune and low boost,i would upgrade your pistons and rods.

Btw, twin 60mm+ is a good start, but make sure the hot side is big enough to flow with a v8.

2001 and up are the best I think. 97 will work as well. I have a 95 in min e I think. The differences are minor.

80E every time. Streetable, strip worthy, bullet proof and tuning it is a dream.

80e with with a 2500 hd truck calibration with a 411 ecm. IIFC, I think 98 or 99 and up is the 80e with the better supports and/or dual lube circuits.
