I wanted to make my stock IC more efficient by doing what the GN guys do, modify the stock IC by cutting the 1 3/4 inch bottle neck off and had a aluminum fabricator weld a 3inch inlet tank. Cost was about $120.00 including tank and labor. I never got it flowed but I definitley feel an seat of the pants improvement on the spool up.
So far I had the boost up to 25psi without any issues. I'll have more DM stats later

where did you find the tank end? do they have tank ends with a more angled inlet to minimize that tight angle from your turbo to intercooelr?

I like how the cobra elbow looks going into the intercooler . Is that just a 3" 90* going to the blow-off from the turbo ?

What size of pipe is your blow off? I would check into having one with a 45 built or something else, something that does not create so much turbalance. I agree their would be quite a bit better flow and you would notice it, but I bet you could still have a noticable difference if it came out at a 45 and was closer to the front of the cooler.

I am not trying to knock you for doing it, it's all about innovation, and R&D

I believe you can find a better 90 degree elbow to the intercooler from Turbonetics & other companies, if you are interested.

The cobra elbow is made for very tight spaces.
So far, it's holding up but if or when it fails, then I'll go silicon.
I get most of the intake parts from Intake Hoses Dot Com.

I bought the intake tank on ebay (cheap) I had to modify the tank by sanding the tank flat in order to make it fit,
So you don't need to buy a tank, just a peice of round beeaded intake tube and a flat alluminum plate and drill a 2 1/2 or 3 inch circle in the plate and weld the intake tube to the plate, match and weld it up to the IC. Here is the actual pic of the finished IC beloe


The size of the IC tube for the bv is 2.25. It's mated to the 3" cobra elbow using a reducing insert, with another 90 degree 2.25 hose to the turbo, using t-bolt clamps. the setup is very adjustable.

I do not know what a cobra elbow is, I am referring to the 90 degree elbow squished that is attached the the intercooler.
Picture looks like it is squished & has a kink in it, does it not???
How does it compare to this one?

Yeah that's a cobra elbow your referring to and it doesn't have any kinks in it which is why some people with huge turbos running hugh amounts of boost have had them collapse.. rare but has happened. I use one and i'd have to say they are the only thing out there that makes such a tight turn without killing the flow.
