Is a 250 mph Sy/Ty possible?

With all this talk about a quick truck, it has gotten me thinking about a fast truck.

I can tell you that in ideal conditions, it'll take about 1300hp to go about 250 in a SyTy.

I don't think all the HP in the world can get a brick to 250 mph.

SyTyless......for now!

Two words: Jet engine.:rotf: I don't think anyone in their right mind would want to take a Sy over 200. It could be done, anything is possible afterall.

i've been thinking of this for the past few months. Not going 250 but breaking stock truck record at the salt flats. It seems that syty fall in a few categories. Breaking the current records are certainly duable. Don't be surprised if you see a sy at boneville.

Dont forget, Gale Banks Sidewinder truck ran 222.139 MPH and that is currently the world record holder for fastest pickup truck, so I would venture to say its nearly impossible to get a Syclone to do 250 MPH under any circumstances.

Banks is under modified truck in a certain engine size category. The stock syclone does not fall in that category. The record a syclone falls under is about 150ish mph. I have to look it up. I actually spoke to a member at the nats about this.

“Jesel Truck-Liner” Sets a New Bonneville Land Speed Record

This August at Bonneville Utah, Jimmy Barton drove the “Jesel-Truck-Liner” to a new land speed record. This unique race team, owned by Wayne Jesel, took their 2005 Dodge Quad Cab Pick-up Truck to a “two-way round trip” record, setting speed of 224.082 MPH at the famous Salt Flats of Bonneville. Running in the C/Modified Pick-Up class, this 5,500 pound vehicle is required by the rules to run a “production body” with only the addition of a front air-dam allowed. The first time out, the team set a record of 203.80 MPH, running with a single four-barrel carburetor. But this was just a shake-down run to see how the truck would handle. The intake manifold was changed, and the record was bumped to 224.082 MPH by using dual four-barrel carburetors on the engine. The basis engine is a Dodge- R5P7 NASCAR design that has be highly modified incorporating many drag racing horsepower tricks, allowing it to run in the 9,000 RPM range

Banks claim has always been the fastest pickup truck, has never said anything about classes

If anyone is willing to try it, I'll have an extra garage space and guest room for you. I am about 2 hours from the Flats.

after seeing the Cuda that Rad RIdes built for the Slat Flats. I would say saftey is a big concern going that fast. I think it's possible to go 250mph in a truck but i'm not sure anyone here is willing to devote that amount of money and time into the project. It's not for the faint at heart.
