2 SRT-4's got rocked

After dinner last night, me my wife and a new friend of ours, went across town to pick up a movie. On the way there, I run into two SRT-4's, one red ACR, and a yellow one. Both had carbon fiber hoods, deck lids and were blowin off every chance they got. Si I raced the yellow one from about a 40-45 roll and he walked me. Then the light up ahead turns red and he scoots over to give his buddy in the ACR room to line up. I confirm that we are all racing and spool it up. I launched with about 16 psi and raped both of them. The red one never seemed to recover but the yellow one did start to catch up. I was doing 85 when I let off but he was still a good 6-7 behind me Ild say.

Damn thats a big launch. I woulda loved to see the look on there faces. Nice kill. The Yellow SRT-4 must have had a 50 trim.

Whats a ACR? How the hell can you launch with that much boost, doesn't it spin the tires too much?

Usually just get a chirp. ACR is to Dodge as Lingenfelter is to Chevy...I think, dont quote me on that.

Did you do anymore upgrades to your brakes ( didn't see anything other than the ABS delete )?
Just wonder because I can't even come close to holding that much boost and I know it would help alot if I could.

Hello from the new friend! lol... let me also add, he did this with 3 people total in the truck!!! I'm not sure how much boost had had when he launched it, but I can verify that when I launch my Sy at around 8-10 psi, its hard to hold it on the line. His truck just keeps building and building...if I was to make a pretty good guess, i'd say it was a low 1.70 60'! Those Neons didn't stand a chance!! :tup:

I wouldn't be surprised if all he has is the ABS delete kit. When I had my ABS I couldn't spool up past like 3 without braking through. When I put the ABS delete lines on, whoa, whole different story. I've had it spooled up to 10psi easy, but didn't launch it because it might not have been pretty :tup: I take it pretty easy on the Ty, I've only launched like 3 times at like 5-6psi and it feels crazy! If I end up keeping it and getting this silverado I'm looking at, I might have to go to the track and try one of those 10+ launches, then call George for a 4L80 :rotf:

Thats what I don't understand, I have ABS delete, upgraded wheel cylinders, both the big shoe setup, and with the drums adjusted as far as I feel safe running them. I still pull through the brakes at 9-10psi. Next i'll try a dual piston caliper and bigger rotors up front, but I just don't understand how some people hold sooo much boost.

And you are so far off, it isn't even funny. The ACR Neon is just different seats, wheels, and suspension. Same driveline.

Ouuch!! My fault Austy-o. Im just thinking that cuse I knew a guy who had an ACR Neon back in the day that had 20 more horse than a stock Neon :tup: Also, ACR build the crap out of Vipers and other Slopar vehicles. Maybe thfats all the ACR SRT-4 is but I beg to differ that ACR only does seats and what not.

I have an all stock brake system minus the ABS delete. I use Autozones Carbon Metallic pads and regular rotors. The shoes in the back and wheel cylinders are on there from when I first bought the truck in 03. I adjust my rears about every 1-3 months deepnding on how much racing I do. When I launch, I let the truck go forward a foot or two getting the pedal to pump up as much as I can. This seems to allow the brakes to hold more. I dont do the Nuetral trick I just rev it in D and that works just fine for me. Ive said it before that I have spent countless hours perfecting my launch and it still amazes me that people just dont get it. Ive driven quite a few SYTY's that cant hold much boost, thier owners are usually not very into getting the best launch possible and dont pay much attention to it. BTW, my calipers are also stock. Ild say try the Carbon Metallic pads and see what htat does for ya. I tried a cheap pad thinking it would be softer and for as much as I was going through them the carbons were starting to not make sense but the cheap pads blew donkey balls. I think Im about half way through the rear shoes so itll be a while before I do those I think.

Nice kills..... :tup: there are a couple Srt's that roll around up here and down there you have to watch out for tho, they will make you feel bad about your truck, that is only on the roll tho, they dont stand a chance out the hole...One is a all white with no spoiler running a Gt40r pushing almost 500hp and a blue with white strippes, also no spoiler running about the same. His plates read LiLViper....Fast ass little shit boxes!!

I can launch at 12psi with my 3000 stall. It burns the tires off Baddddd! Last time I broke the propshaft too. Agreed with above somewhere. ACR is an adjustable suspension, better wheels and tires and that is about all.

I guess I dont make enough power to burn the tires. Maybe thats also why I can hold so much. I dont know. I wasnt saying that the ACR SRT 4 isnt that just saying that ACR does more than what is being said, as a whole that is. Not liek I relly care though, I dont even like Mopar.

Srt's are still neons, but i still want a white acr for a DD. If you decide to do +12psi launches all the time, don't be running 275's on the front, or the prop shaft gets mad.

ACR = American Club Racer. Basically minor mods done by Dodge to certain vehicles to make them better at racing in the turns. I don't think any ACR car had more power though

What does 275's have to do with it? I got 275/40/17's up front on my Z06 wheels and they are the exact width as the stock tires. Never ehard this one before.
