Took some pics of the Sy this weekend

Hi Guys,
Was changing oil yesterday and giving the truck a thorough once-over so thought it was a good time to take some pics. The link will take you to my photobucket page. I need to reload everything into albums, big 'duh' on my part

http://s137.photobucket.com/albums/q230/wyosyclone/?start=all

I bought my truck in November. The guy who owned it apparently had 22 or 23 car dealerships in the South. He got his best mechanics together and told them to do a frame-off resto, and to make it better than new. He had only put 500 miles on it since the rebuild (six years ago), so decided to sell it and keep his 40-some other cars.

As far as I can tell, the time sitting didn't hurt it at all (he was smart enough to have someone drive it every month for a few miles).

I need to do a few small things to it, but overall I'm very happy with it :p :rotf: :p
Now I just need to get it cleaned up to SyTy standards!

Re: Took some pics of the Sy this weekend

Hey 1177,
Thanks!
Yes, I feel really lucky to have found it. They put it on Ebay with a buy-it-now button, and I think it was only on for about 4 or 5 minutes when I purchased it. I want to continue with the make-it-better-than-new philosophy so will probably do mainly reliability things (Gilbert shaft, good tune, rear driveline hoop, big brakes, re-route IC lines, etc.). I'm having a LOT of fun just driving it around and seeing people give me either  , or looks wondering what the heck it is.

Looks clean. Just do the mods listed. Once you start doing stuff, it will never end. Just drive and enjoy it.

Re: Took some pics of the Sy this weekend

Thanks MHST!
I really agree Gary. Once you start doing the performane mods, it just keeps going till you've got yourself an 8-second truck! Well, I wouldn't go that far, but I have been known to like large amounts of horsepower.
I think the best thing to do with this particular truck is to keep it mainly stock, but just try to modernize it a bit with some reliability mods. I might go with the hydroboost brakes (maybe not), but will most likely do the Gilbert, bigger brakes, rear hoop, IC lines, a GOOD tune, etc.
I've got a brochure, I picked up at SEMA, from the people who do the high temp blankets and shields, etc. for NASCAR, IRL, etc. so I may play around with isolating the IC and other temp critical parts with some of their insulation product.

Maybe I need to buy another Sy that's not in so good of shape, ressurect it, and use it as my weekend warrior ;)

WOW that was weird. There for a second, I though that I was looking at the top of my motor

... That thing is krazy clean, have you eaten off it yet? I see that you know the "trick" to getting the oil filter off without making a huge mess. Most of us old timers use a 2 liter bottle with the top cut off. SHARP truck you got there

Re: Took some pics of the Sy this weekend

Thanks Mike,
I caused enough large scale oil spills in my younger days that the Exxon Valdez has nothing on me!
Not quite that bad, but I do make a point of trying to keep fluids contained. I need to get underneath it and wipe everything down. The Sy has never seen rain, 'cept I had to run through a wet street where the city decided to water the ashpalt  the cars around me would have been rather upset if I'd tried stopping and turning around!

My frame is shinier than yours, but that is one slick truck you've got there :D

It's never done ... but it's pretty close  .... just a little tuning for the most part and maybe a converter swap

Hey Bezerk,
Really, I can't take the credit for it being so clean... the guys who did the frame off resto are the ones to take the credit for that. I have the pleasant job of just keeping it clean and trying to improve it..... I feel very fortunate! Thanks for the nice comments.
