i think someone is getting worried. :) sure free pull sounds good since there is always a loss when only useing the rear wheels on a awd car/truck i feel the numbers should be about the same.
IT SOUNDS TO ME THAT RALPH IS SHAKING A LITTLE! you know what this means... [ralph] " hello Harry we need to talk! "

No concerns only feel bad since a friend will see that the numbers he once knew are not the same on a real dyno. Harry said "take it to the track you will find out how good it is real fast" Oh course i don't know how anyone could run that much boost and still not have to worry about turning it up, if got alky that is the replacement for race fuel. Alky is like 114 octane when set-up right. Just gotta hope you don't get a bad batch of 93 gas.

Numbers look good. Like Ralph said, dynojet numbers will be a little high vs a mustang dyno, but if you are using the dyno as a "before vs after" tuning tool to measure changes, it really won't matter what your actual numbers are. Hope that made sense... it's a little early ;)

Now, as for putting the truck up on jackstands while dynoing... man, I don't know about that. Stop for a moment and think about what exactly happens if the truck manages to shudder hard enough to wobble and come off those stands in the middle of a pull. Why not just pull the front propshaft, and leave the wheels on the ground? :)

So I have a question. If the street tune was at 23psi, what is the race tune going to be at? Why so much boost? Or is that what its going to take to push those kinda numbers? (Dont know if your heads are ported and whatnot..)

Wouldn't the fact that only two wheels on an AWD vehicle receiving resistence yield higher wheel horsepower than what is actually true? Not really sure but in my mind, turning 4 rollers with impedence would be a bit harder than just turning 2???

Actually, I think it would be the opposite. It's taking power to turn the wheels that are up in the air, and that power isn't being measured anywhere. Pull the propshaft so that power only goes to the rears, and I'm thinking those numbers go up, not down.

wait so you just jacked up the front wheels and put it on the dyno.

+1

Sounds kinda dangerous to me. Very dangerous.

Why not pull the front propshaft instead?

H8ters. While this isn't an ideal set up obviously...if he's got the balls to put his rig on jack stands and utalize a dyno I say nice work. Looks like he's smart enough not to wreck his SH*T too. One question though for someone with a much smaller satchual...How hard would it be to pull the prop shaft and make our trucks rear wheel drive for testing, tuning and then hook the AWD back up after we're happy with our tune?

I was hoping this thread was going to be about your new build. Super Sweet!!! That is a TON of boost :) . I have never taken off the prop, but I think I would have in this case (just for the extra hp numbers, lol ) .... I keep hearing it is super easy ---

I don't care which dyno you're using, those are some serious numbers! Please keep the motor in one piece. NO DON TUNING!!!!

i was running 25psi on the street on pump gas

i didnt think thats too much,

awesome runs btw, i wonder what the difference in #'s would be with a AWD dyno instead

For the record, I wasn't "hating". Those are amazing numbers  . I was merely surprised at the lack of safety precautions, especially after the current events that have happened on this board...

what was the tq numbers?Only thing is dyno numbers really dont mean everything when it comes down to 1/4 mile times,no matter what dyno u use.U can make 600 etc etc go 12s and make under 500 and go tens.Lot of factors not takeing any sides or hateing ,just some advice from what i have learned.

Yep, now that I read your post and cycled it inside my tiny brain, you are right!

fun day all in all. after talking to bob http://www.bigtimeauto.com/ and bill http://www.secondstreetspeed.com/index.htm we came to the thought 500rwhp is fine for a very safe rich street tune, lets just go to the track have some fun and if the 103k mile rears, transfercase, stock axles and 700 "waller trans" dont break we can go back for a real race tune. i agree. i have had this ty for so long and it has been 4-5 years since i was able to make a full pass, the plan is when i get back from my trip to va and ga this coming week to make time next week to stop down the track and get a couple runs in.

this was the street tune on pump gas "93oct" street tune very little timing and 23psi. alky only made a additional 11rwhp when on so we just used it on the smallest gain setting on 1 to cool intake temps since we are not ready for the race tune yet. i would like to think full race tune 600rwhp should be something to shot for. then the upgrades will begin on drive line parts if i keep it.
:)

note....as you can see in the vid the ic hose is going to need to be modded to stay on at this power.
wow man props to you maby i can make mine like that one day.

very impressive !
I plan to dyno my basic build... however inaccurate it is
then add the go faster parts and re-dyno to see the gains
