one last oil leak.

Looks like I have one last leak to deal with. Its a oil leak. I get oil on the bellhousing dripping down both sides of it. Cant tell where its comming from yet. Only thing I can see up high in the engine rear is the oil sender and the dist. It is leaking prety bad. drips when i stop after a few min of driving. Any ideas. Will try the dye tomorow I guess.

checked. Leak is from dist to drivers valve cover. not from dist. Not leaking from low end on valve cover. Possible oil sender or lower intake on drivers side. Am I wrong in thinking the lower intake that I sealed with silicone on the back has enough oil fand pressure flowing to cause a leak this big. covers bell housing to the point it starys to drip in a 1 mile drive on city streets. Woult think the sender see's high pressure. I will wrap it in a towl and run the engine tomorow.

As you know I have mine apart. One thing I found was the oil pressure sender adapter between the block and the sender itself was just a tad more than finger tight in the block. Wasn't leaking but I'd check yours anyway. DAQ Did you remove the lower intake and reseal it or just try to seal it from the outside? If the PCV system is working you should have litle or no pressure in the valley.

Thanks don. PVC is working. I used sealant before I put the lower back on. Leak is comming from up top somewhere. The whole upper end is new. Including the intakes(ported and powdercoated)
Has to be the sender. Only thing I can think of back there that can leak that much.

Just spray it down with carb cleaner (cold engine), then start it up and use a mirror tool and light with the engine idling to find out exactly where it's coming from. Shouldn't be too difficult to pinpoint. I hope it's not the intake, call me if it is...I have some ideas.

I pulled the valve cover breathers off and I see smoke comming out of them?? WTF. It only happenends when its hot I guess because I never noticed before. I feel no air comming out but smoke billows out. Looks like burning oil to me. WTF. Engine is only getting to 185*

If you can't find it, IIRC the standard S-series trucks didn't use it, the sending unit just screwed into the block. I think the size is different though, cause when I tried to use one off of my parts truck for my Sy the thread pitch was wrong.

leak is still there. I used teflon tape and high temp pipe sealing locktight on it. Leak is still there.. The threads on the brass fitting look worn. I used to get oil in the TC cover before the build. I figured it was a leaking valve cover. The leak has always been on the truck but is worse now. If anyone knows the part number please help. Thanks

It's easy to over-torque that little brass thread. Mine leaked to, after I installed the motor last time.

FWIW, you could probably make you own with a brass nipple and a 90 or 45.
