I know 3 people who have run very close, like within a tenth, at the track compared to their gtech times. These were 2 vr4 mitsubishis and the previous owner of my truck. Obviously all awd. They all said the gtech was accurate. I took their word for it although I have not personally had my truck to the track yet to compare my gtech time. Anybody out there ever use the gtech at the track?

Yes, I use a G-tech. The first generation units were pretty crappy but the Pro and later units with the latest updates are very accurate. I have used it at the track many many many times on 9 different cars and two bikes. A lot of it is good mounting and the calibration as with any of these type units. Accuacy with the track times slips is always within 1-2 mph and .2 or so, I like it

I've used this for nearly 20 years and it works very well. :myclone:

It has been replaced by the new Vericom VC3000. Pricey for sure.

Agreed. My new G-Tech pro RR is very close to what I see at the track. The first generation unit I had didn't do well at all.

I have no idea what degree of tilt to input to the unit for our AWD sqaut that takes place with our trucks. What do you recomend?????

I was under the impression that setting it at zero was for a level flat run and the tilt was for grade of incline or decline in the road. Its a pia to get that thing to zero sometimes though

For AWD vehicles thier is a seting in the "setup" for how many degrees of "pitch" your vehicle does when launching, most 2wd vehicles stay pretty flat unless they are running slicks and hook like a monster. But you know our front end lifts and rear sqauts, so that's what that setting is for. As I understand it.

Im gonna have to check that out for sure. I get 11.60's- 11.70's @ 122 mph. This might explain why my et is low for the mph or vice versa. What times are you getting?....if you dont mind sharing

91 octane it showing 11.2 forgot the mph

c-16 showing 10.9 I think 123mph

I want to get that setting right though, but have no idea.

I set zero for all cars. I could be wrong but I thought this was for off road / hill climb type stuff

If I remember correctly. You take your 330 time from the track and subtract a second.. (?) its something like that that was shown to be somewhat close for us.

Nope, here it is from Gtech themselves

"
“Vehicle pitch” is the term that describes the up and down

movement of the front (and conversely, the back) of your

vehicle during acceleration.

You may be aware that under strong braking conditions,

most vehicles experience “nose dive.” By the same token,

most vehicles experience a slight raising of the front end

under strong forward acceleration. The fact that the vehicle

does not stay perfectly level under acceleration and deceleration

means that the G-tech’s measurements require slight

adjustments to account for this movement.

The G-tech has an adjustable “pitch correction factor” that

allows you to fine tune the G-tech’s accuracy. You must set

the pitch factor correctly to ensure the best accuracy.

Typical cars have a pitch correction factor of approximately 2

degrees per forward G of acceleration, and this is the default

setting. Most cars will not require any adjustment at all. If you

have particularly stiff suspension, lower the pitch factor. If you

have a very soft suspension, consider raising it. "

Hope that solves this ridle.

Thanks Dean  . That's good to know, I guess I misunderstood (well I would have missed it anyway) since I thought that was for the off-road deal. I first thought of the autocross G reading also but I don't go off road and only speed in a "straight line 1320 at a time" :rotf: Going fast around corners in a un-prepped street car with traffic = DEAD at some point in time :2cents: .

I went back and looked at it and the "pitch" setting is one that I didn't change

Have three people in the typhoon one driving, then a seasoned ty veteren in backseat with a stopwatch and a third sitting shotgun that has never experienced a launch. When the truck launches begin the stopwatch when the front passenger finishes saying "oh shit" stop the watch it, is that simple :)
