hey guys

i weighed the sy today at a friends shop. I was surprised at how heavy these trucks are. My truck weighs in @ 3521 with a little over a half tank of gas in it. the only thing thats not stock is the wheels.



also this truck has a flowmaster muffler on it whats the best muffler for it? i know that a flow munster is bad for turbo stuff.

im surprised its that light, i thought they were heavier.

For the muffler, look into spintech. No personal experience, but the name seems to be around a lot with the forced induction folk.

That's about a normal weight for a sy. Mine is close to that, and with me in it its 38xxlbs.

I weighed my ty sat. 4k lbs, 1/2 tank gas, with me. Subtract 230 for me in it.

That is a V8 and 4l80e, but suspension is a bit lighter. Full interior and a heavy sub box, 3 amps, and the inside is sprayed with line-x. (previous owner did that).

Mine was 3690 with me in it.
~3500 is ballpark... amount of gas in the tank will change things.

best muffler without dumping tons of money out in my opinion is the Dynomax Ultra flow. I have a stainless round 3" one on the sy for the last five years and love it. Flowmaster are horrible for turbo vehicles.. I posted a thread about it months ago with dyno results showing that they were holding back something crazy like 30rwhp or something more

I weighed mine shortly after I bought it. Stock down to the exhaust with about 1/2 tank of gas and no driver it tipped my buddy?s farm scale at 3,575lbs.

The scale had been checked by the Nebraska Department of Agriculture Weights and Measures Division a couple of months prior so it should be accurate to the nearest 10 lbs.

I have this same muffler and love it. It's surprisingly quiet for being a straight-through design. With my cutout closed, all I hear is a little swoosh of the compressor as I get going.

On a side note, I had the Dynomax non-Stainless version (essentially the same muffler) on my Dodge Spirit R/T with a 3" high flow cat (couple months old) and 3" mandrel exhaust. Bypassing all of that crap via downpipe cutout was worth 30whp (Mustang dyno) on an engine putting down 300whp. A 10% improvement in power by uncorking a $15 cutout isn't too shabby.

as a mustang guy i love the magnaflow and dynomax. dynomax shows a greater horsepower increase than flowmaster in mustangs too. cant go wrong with magna bullet, dyno bullet or borla bullet and they are all great for turbo veh. i believe rpm even uses magnaflows bullet so goes to show u.

I just got back from the local scale. it goes in increments of 20lbs, so my sy with a little over half a tank, and laptop, camera, no driver.....weighed 3380lbs......(which would be 3500 with me on it :tdown:) Looks like I will be looking for others things to rip off, or replace, and I'm going on a diet... :rotf:

3,423lbs with me in it and a quarter tank of gas. 3,269lbs without me in it.
weighed on digital car scales at each wheel

Its now 25lbs heavier due to addition of caltracs, which were worth every pound!

Been ditching heavy stuff off the truck since i got it

Mine weighed 3080 with out me in it with 3/4 tank of fuel. Need to say some stuff has been removed.

That's a pretty nice weight. End up removing anything that isn't on the "normal" list?
