1/8th tank on gauge=empty.

Re: 1/8th tank on gauge=empty.

I have to agree that low fuel levels are very hard on a fuel pump. Mainly from the higher fuel temps as it passes through the system so much faster and can't get rid of the heat.

I also don't trust the gas gauges in these trucks. My GT used to have quite a bit left for mileage when it got down on the orange. Then I ran out one day. Luckily coasted off the freeway near a station when it started to sputter. Put in a gallon and it fired right up. Ever since I see a 1/4 or less and put some gas in. What made me mad was I had the gauge lower than that many a time and never ran out.

Diesel prices going up is going to hurt everyone. We all go backwards monthly in this country because of it. Just compare food prices from now to say Feb. Some items have taken a huge hike upwards.

Couldn't have said it better than you did because there is NO logic to it.

A co-worker of mine was complaining it costs $80 or whatever to fill the family truckster so he and his wife were both doing the 5 gallon thing. I suggested filling it up and then doing 5 gallon thing whenever it'd get to a 3/4 tank.

And I quote...

"Then we'd have to stop at the gas station more often."

its not the 4 dollar a gallon of gas that bothers me its the 4.50 diesel because that affects all prices

$4.50? I've seen $5+ Sucks big time and I don't even use diesel!

Yeah, from that perspective you have a valid point but publicising that information now, I hope, Jimmy doesn't take off his hood, back seat, spare tire, center caps, etc to save a little weight and get better fuel mileage.

I want pics + test results... I smell it happening already.

Do you think that is the only reason my truck gets less than 10mpg?

No doubt. People are blaming the grain markets for food prices, but the reality is that it's all delivered by a diesel-powered semi. (or a diesel-powered train)

I'm hoping they can get the Algae-biodiesel costs down into the $2 range. This will drive the market more than anything, and then people can't argue that fuel is using up foodstocks.
