71 Trans AM HO

Getting for a steal (friend of the family). Can almost pay for the restoration with the sale of my Syclone #0025. Should I do it?

Might wanna sell your syclone first before you get your hopes up....the market for them sucks right now. Personally, I wouldn't do it for that T/A BUT beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

x2. It would be a nice save, but you're gonna need more than $9,500 to restore fully. Unless Sy25 is a Marlboro.

x3 ... Thunderchickens can be kind of cool but that one is bound to need an entire new floorpan as well as the obvious that can be seen.... big money to do that one right. 455 Pontiacs aren't the cheapest motors in the world to rebuild either....

Ken is right on the money (as usual). I have a 70 1/2 that I bought from the original owner. Never in the snow and properly taken care of. Basically a strip and paint. Had to rechrome the rear bumper, new stickers, exhaust, tires, repaint the wheels, redo the driver seat lower, new rug and some other small stuff. No engine rebuild needed, no brakes, no floor, trunk, qtr panel, or door work whatsoever. Pulled the front and back glass and worked the rust underneath (they all have it) and replaced the panel between the back glass and the deck lid (a bolt on piece). I did 100% of the work myself. Did not keep track of my hours but looking at your pics, your work is much more considerable than mine. Between parts and labor, you will eat that $40K quickly by paying someone to do the work. Better off finding a car already done or one in better condition. Purchase price plus 40K to make it "right" (which is where it will be most valuable when it is done) and in the end the car is not worth what you have into it. The car is a sweet ride when it is done but you will miss the Sy dearly

Run away from it as fast as you can. I would say to restire that thing to make it real nice, your looking over 25k.Not counting your time. Sell your sy and just buy a nice driver that you won't have to work on.

Re: Thinking of Selling my Syclone for this

why do a full resto? just fix it up into a driver. keep the sy and work on the thunderchicken like it was a sy. a little a little there

Re: Thinking of Selling my Syclone for this

i like those cars but thats as some are saying and im agree quite expensive to restore in the 25K range at least

I wonder about the 2.2L Tourismo or maybe its a Omni tc3 with the battery jumper by it

No thanks. It looks like one of those cars where you keep finding rust holes everywhere and have to keep replacing the metal panels including the floor.

I can tell from the pics it will need trunk floor and inner and outter wheel houses would probably be easier to just move the VIN to a good body
