5'7, 110lb. Blonde and I pulled the bed off my Sy - no joke!

OK, I had to post this because I just can't believe it. My roommate has a bad back and declined to help me pull the bed off my Sy. I was like, "It's only 300 lbs. dude!" but he insisted that he didn't help for fear of hurting his back. Well...my lady friend and I were having lunch at my place today and she's like, "I can help pull it off" and I told her there was no way but I really wanted to put my Walbro 255 in tonight so I figured "what the hell?" I put four jackstands behind the truck and she and I lifted the bed up on the first try and set it on the jacks without even touching the cladding on the ground! I'm sure removing the tailgate helped but I'm totally amazed that this little blonde and I were able to pull it off. I'm 6'2 200 and everyone says "make sure you have 2 or 3 burly guys around to help lift the bed off." Ya, right! I'm still laughing...he he. I'll post more once I get the Walbro in and do some Datamaster runs.

Good stuff, I am glad she could handle it. I just fear dropping the bed on the cladding. The sound it would make would be worse than a week of "fingernails on the blackboard" torture.
A lister or board member suggested sometime back that he just put some bricks in between the bed and the frame to elevate it enough to change the pump. That is how I have done them since. Makes it a one man job. No worries about droppage and storage isnt an issue if you plan on having things apart for a while.
Good luck with the swap. Make sure to clean up the ground that comes off the hanger real good. I use "plasti-cote" spray to seal the ground connections once bolted up.

Take care,
Daron

OK, the Walbro is in and the truck runs great. I took it around the block without the bed on it...that was fun! The fuel pump install was a piece of cake. I even reused the original metal ring since I did not bend it at all during removal. I peeked into the fuel tank while I was at it and there was a little bit of crap floating around at the bottom but nothing major. I used a turkey baster to suck the big pieces out. As far as putting the new pump into the bracket, I didn't have any problems. I tossed the pulsator and used the hose and clamps as suggested. Also cleaned the ground strap and frame real well before putting it back together. One thing I noticed was the new pump seems louder than the OEM unit; nothing I can hear in the cab though. Tomorrow, after I get the bed back on, I'm going to take some new Datamaster readings to see if it helps reduce the knock retard above 12psi (doubt it).

Daron or anyone got pics of this bed removal/lifting process using the bricks?

OK, I have REMOVED the pics out of two posts in this thread recently . This a TECHNICAL AREA on the forum and members shouldn't have to worry about NWS posts in here. If you have pics to post of hot babes, please post them in the Off Topic area here. Thank you for your cooperation.

Re: 5'7, 110lb. Blonde and I pulled the bed off my Sy

This is a very old thread involving my ex (who now lives in Anchorage, AK)...it had nothing to do with posting pictures. Funny thing, though. I was chatting with her yesterday and asked her if I could post a pic of her her in this thread and she said OK. I'll have to dig through my files when I get home and see what I have. I still can't believe she was able to lift that bed off with me because the last two male friends who helped do this almost dropped their side on the ground (argh). That woman put up with more crap watching/helping me work on this truck over the last 8 years...God bless her.

Sorry to hear that :(. From what I recall she was pretty good looking. If you post up a pic please keep it clean. Anything that would be considered NWS will be removed...

Clean is no problem. I still have the dirty pics for my personal viewing pleasure, ha ha. She's not bad looking for 40, let me tell you.
