Desperate Plenum decision

I am extremely conflicted here. First off, I am doing a black, red and aluminum scheme in hte engine bay on my TY. I don't really want to have ANY polish or chrome. Now I can't decide if I should make my plenum black with the red syclone letters, black with red letters and the polished rectangle, or just leave it polished? Only reason I hate to paint it is because it is already polished, I got it for free, I got it because it was polished, and it looks very nice. Other than that, I think black, red letters and the polished rectangle would look good, what do you guys think?

I say the black with red letters, polished or silver painted rectangle.

and see if someone wants the polished one to trade for unpolished.

Im not a fan of shiney polished anything personally.
I got alum valve covers that someone spent prob 3 hours polishing and then I took a scotchbrite pad to them. All my intercooler piping was polished....scotchbrite, you get the picture, Heres my engine bay if it helps:

I have 1 as well to trade and 1 with red Syclone lettering and black 4.3 like the above post, just not sure if I want to trade it :dunno:.

I have a stock one I started sanding down to polish and gave up for now, so if are going to paint it I will trade you for mine and possibly throw a few bucks in the deal too. Let me know.

Mike let me show you my spare upper intake and let me know if you want to trade. It is coated and I am going for the exact opposite as you. As shiny as I can get the better!!!

When we meet up I will bring it with me just in case. I'd trade you my polished TB but I paid $150 to have it rebuilt:lol: This will need to be buffed. It has water marks on it but depending on how you work you could get it like a mirror in less than a half hour. Sorry to anyone else who offered I just don't want to deal with shipping if I don't have to. That and I really am not sure how I want to do this. I was really just looking for color scheme opinions.

I havn't seen 1 color syty upper intake I liked (with the exception of Tom's Marl). To me it just removes the character of the stock intake and makes it look like the motor's been rebuilt. Not to mention paint typically flakes off these things from a misguided wrench or fan blade... then all the amazement and luster is gone because it looks worn and tattered.

For me its stockish color, polished, or nothing.

That's an interesting outlook on the subject. Definitely something for me to consider I think. I just wanted to steer away from any "bling".

I do really like what Mario has on his Typhoon with the intake and the AC/Alt brackets. Very clean and looks stock.

Fan blade? Dude, if your fan blade is anywhere near your intake, you've got bigger issues. :)

I've already had to touch mine up... this is where paint is nice.

If you hit the part with self-etching primer before the paint, you'll get less flaking.

I spent 3-4 days restoring a battery tray, which promptly got a torque wrench dropped on it. Crap.

*EDIT* 'nother idea... the POR cast-iron coat (for chassis parts) might look neat on an intake... and it'd be bulletproof.

Powder coat it black. Just installed a black one with red lettering. Looked so badass!

However, I don't mind the "brushed" look of Scotch Brite either... This is my bud's intake after I polished it for my "how to" write up two years ago since he didn't want a polished finish:

Polished.

Scotch Btite in action.

Re: Desperate Plenum decision

Also for what its worth, and it isnt much but, leaving it unpainted will dissipate heat better than if its painted
