Bad ball joint. Rustbelt truck. Opinions

Re: Bad ball joint. Rustbelt truck. Opinions Glad I finally got around to doing the 1 ton idler on my Jimmy. Old idler didn't last long, hopefully this new setup will.

Re: New plates.. Collector status! Was the vehicle inspected at all, or did they just hand you your new plates?

    Sound Deadening Material

Re: Sound Deadening Material I used about 2 rolls of deadner, and maybe 2 or 3 yards of the foam. I doubled up the deadner in some of the larger flat areas. So it was probably about $500 (cad) when I did it, after shipping, glue (stick on foam wasn't available) roughly.

    Sound Deadening Material

Re: Sound Deadening Material I used RAAMmat, and their ensolite. There are now more products out to choose from other companies. However at the time SecondSkin, RAAM, and Dynamat were tops. This was before I put the foam layer on top. Did the doors as well. Sure makes a big difference when...

    Proportioning valve

Re: Proportioning valve This is what I ended up doing on my jimmy, works fine. Then added an adjustable valve for the rears.

Typhoon sub enclosure, post up pictures of your setup!

Re: Typhoon sub enclosure, post up pictures of your setup! Looks very clean! I stole that pic from blazinlow, so not my own. I would only assume that it's all custom. If you want a little bass, and retain cargo space, that's the way to go!

Typhoon sub enclosure, post up pictures of your setup!

Re: Typhoon sub enclosure, post up pictures of your setup! Fiberglassed rear to utilize as much room as possible. This box was tricky to fit the 2 deep 8's and the long ports. The amps are mounted on the passenger side. This is in the g/f's blazer.

    question, sanding down powdercoated wheels.

Re: question, sanding down powdercoated wheels. If they were done right the powder should have good adhesion and shouldn't chip. Over time it could be a starting point for corrosion, but it doesn't sound like it sees bad weather. Depending on how they were prepped they could/should have been...

    LED Headlight experiment

Re: LED Headlight experiment I'll still take my hid retro over those leds anytime. Better width, distance, cutoff, high beam and twice the output. I'm sure they are better than the stock sealed units, as pretty well anything is better than those.

    LED Headlight experiment

Re: LED Headlight experiment A sub $100 eBay led kit in h4 housings is not yet safely attainable at the moment IMHO. TRS is working on an HID kit. Not sure if it will be a bolt in upgrade or not. I know some people aren't fans of the way HID projectors look on these body styles, but the...

    HID question

Re: HID question I'm using oem projectors, ballasts and bulbs, all dot approved for their original application. Installed into an s10 makes it all illegal. It's as close to being legal as you can get. But I know that it's still illegal as all non oem offered HID's are, period. Do you have...

    HowTo: HID the right way

Re: HowTo: HID the right way I just used the cheap ebay fake projector housings. It is tricky to get the glass lens off. I think I was about 325° for 20-25 minutes. Then used a metal putty knife and pulled it about the glass edge a few times to cut into the adhesive. Luckily I never...
