Re: Bowtie block I would kinda like to have it sonic checked, but the machine shops around here don't have that ability. I'd probably have to take it to a bigger city to find a place to do that, and it's about 150 miles in any direction to any city. I didn't have him check the lifter bores...

Re: Bowtie block Just got it back from the machine shop. No cracks, 4.120 bore so lots of room there, main bearing journals check straight. He said the cam bearing journals are .010 oversize, (1st oversize), and he thought it'd be good to replace the main studs just because we don't know how...

Re: Bowtie block Quick check of the bore was 4.120. He'll measure 'em more accurately if is passes the mag test. Should have all the specs early next week.

Re: Bowtie block Yea, I understand what you're saying. Which brings up another question, did they make a bowtie block that had a dedicated 2 pc seal? (Machined in the block and rear main cap like the old sb) Either way, apparently this one swings both ways. LOL

Re: Bowtie block It was definitely a 2 pc seal an I'm missing the lower half of the seal adapter. I would think the seal adapter set would be a matched pair? (Like main caps, or rod caps). Or since it just holds the seal would any lower adapter piece be compatible with my upper? The upper...

Re: Bowtie block I'm not sure that's a good thing or not... LOL 7K $$? Ouch! lol This one is dry sump and it was a circle track motor, (pretty sure it was just dirt track though, not nascar or busch stuff).
