Yes i know..another low boost question....UPDATE!!!

I will keep this short and to the point. My truck has an autometer gauge and it reads 10-11 psi of boost, so i unhooked the boost selenoid and it made no difference whatsoever. Help, i have lots of vac though....

Re: Yes i know..another low boost question....

you mean you hooked the line into a vaccum line bypassing the control or just unhooked it and had no boost control? Hook it back up before you blow shit up! Maybe your boost gauge isnt working correct. try another one, or hook up datamaster and see what it reads.

Unhooking the boost solenoid gives you base boost.

You may want to just unplug the solenoid, thus reaching a max of 8-12 psi, or base boost, staying in a rather safer zone. Base boost vaires as you are working with a 14 year old actuator.

Jeff is right, Kaboom if you don't get a scan tool.

It sounds like you may need a new one.

I had the same problem when i brought number 24 home. Checked for continuity in the boost block with a fluke and got no reading. Called up a local GMC dealer and they had it for me the next day for 24ish bucks.

It's a new gauge i just installed and i don't have a datamaster or access to one. I live in Canada and i have went to my dealer looking for a couple of things already and they look at me like I'm crazy. What is the correct way of testing the boost solenoid?

I unhooked the plug with 2 wires, not the vac lines......and how can i blow shit up with only 10 psi of boost? My autometer and stock gauges reed the same amount.

Yes.

There are many reasons for low boost. My advice is to get datamaster and take a look at what is happening.

So buy a cheap laptop and a datamaster liscence. Heck you can even use it for free for 10 runs without registration.

It really is some of the best money you can spend on a syty.

X 151 million

there are alot of things for low boost,
intake leaks, knock retard, bad solenoid, etc
definitely go with DM, its cheaper than a new engine.

Re: Yes i know..another low boost question....

i think theres a couple vendors here that sell dm.
either way download from the makers www.ttspowersystems.com
you get 20 free logs, so go ahead and figure out whats wrong with the syty.
you can buy the register code later and you can then use unlimited.

Re: Yes i know..another low boost question....UPDATE!!!

I installed a new solenoid today and tried that, no difference. Then i searched and found a pic of the lines attached to it (solenoid) and mine were different-opposite of the pic. I changed them around and again no difference. (can someone post a pic or tell me the correct placement for these lines just in case the photo i went by was wrong) I then searched and learned that with the key on the orange wire going to the solenoid should have 12 volts, mine does. Should the black wire be a ground and how do i check it? I also tried to move my waste gate rod and it won't move, it seems as though it's seized. Is this normal?
