Nice job!

Those fans are the same I'm running. When you get a pic of the clearance, could you post it?? I'm curious about the fit with the LSx accessories and intake hose.

Re: LS1-Sonoma GT build (updated with pics)

Ok had some pretty bad issues with the electric fans today.....the lil bastards are just too big...there isnt enough clearance between the fans and the engine to work.......the fans are 3 5/8 inches deep.......Soooooooooo...My choices are: cut the shit out of the core support and move the radiator forward and buy a new condenser.....OR...order some expensive flex-a-lite model 210 fans which are an inch or so slimmer. I chose the fans because I really don't want to butcher the core support :( So that will provide an extra inch of clearance and if we really need to we can tweak another quarter inch out of it. We really didn't get a whole lot done today because of that issue than we somehow misplaced the DRAC module (little black box under the dash next to the computer) so I have to go search the junk yard tomorrow for a new one. All-in-all a pretty bad day. But the core support and hood are on which is kinda neat so I'll post some pics later tonight.

here are some pics of the two compared - looks like you are going to have to go Flex-a-lites

does anyone know what happened to the Red LS1 S10. The web site was www.v8s10s.com. He used to sell a ls1 install manual.

I think he is the same guy that did the white ls1 blazer and the yellow "zo6" s10....is this the guy you are refering to? If so, I have his manual. He just puts two electric fans on the radiator using no shroud......I live in AZ....so I don't think that will cut it during the summer. I am going to go with the flex-a-lites though, I already have the 220 model ordered. So well see how that goes.......I just REALLY didn't want to cut up the core support.

PS...thanks for the pics Marty, that is a good comparison in depth

Well that answers that. Thanks for the update and measurements.

I guess I'll have to cut up the support. I don't mind though, since we can get new ones easy enough.

Alright, got some updates for you guys.

LS1S-GTpics-21.jpg
Here's clearance between radiator and engine w/ out electric fans in.

Just some engine shots....On the higher one you can see where we re-mounted the power steering fluid resevoir. It would have fit in the factory mounting location but it is alot less cluttered between the engine and radiator this way.

LS1S-GTpics-19.jpg

Clearance w/ electric fans mounted.

LS1S-GTpics-18.jpg

Started mocking up air intake routing...not much room, just like everything else on the truck

LS1S-GTpics-16.jpg

And here we have the new 2 inch cowl hood...kinda dark..sorry

So, the interior is pretty much complete wiring-wise. We have the tranny cooler mounted in front of the condenser and the hoses all hooked up to it....the lower radiator hose is on as is the heater hoses...more updates this comming weekend.
