    Press in rocker studs

OK. I got a set of stock heads that were completely rebuilt at a cylinder head shop. I put them on and within 10 miles both studs for the valves on #2 have pulled out. They aren't completely out but they pulled up at least 1/4 inch. The end result was the rockers were flopping around and I...

    Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator Swapout

Re: Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator Swapout Yes. Screw the adjuster into the unit to raise pressure and vice versa.

93 TY FS in FL--Needs motor work

Re: 93 TY FS in FL--Needs motor work This is exactly what came to mind last night after doing the compression test. Guys, I'm going to hold off on this sale until I explore my valve lash settings. I'm sorry to be flaky on this but I have two years, countless labor hours, and thousands wrapped...

    Tuning for L35 heads.

Re: Tuning for L35 heads. I remember now. 65 is the stock bolt values. I did mine to 75 based on what I was reading on ARP's in the threads. And I am realizing that this has gone off on quite a tangent now. I won't post anything back in here except if the stock heads fixed my issue.

    Tuning for L35 heads.

Re: Tuning for L35 heads. There may be light at the end of this tunnel. All plugs had fuel on them. Here are the compression test results: 1= 165 2= See Below 3= 150 4= 150 5= 150 6= 150 I found the cylinder that was down. The plug from #4 was black and fouled. Not oily in any way. Fuel...

    Tuning for L35 heads.

Re: Tuning for L35 heads. I did the best I could with a straight edge. Made sure to scrape all the old gasket material off of course. The heads are fresh from the cylinder head shop and that included milling the deck. I reused my ARP head bolts. Torqued them to the value I kept finding in...

93 TY FS in FL--Needs motor work

Re: 93 TY FS in FL--Needs motor work It's funny you should say that. That's an option that just surfaced today. GT I got your PM. I'll have to get back to you on that. I am going to do a compression test on the motor before I make any decision. I probably posted this just a slight bit...

93 TY FS in FL--Needs motor work

Re: 93 TY FS in FL--Needs motor work I could work with a shipper as long as they can work around my work schedule. There was rust in the front fenders, bottom of both doors, and the bottom of the tail gate. All of those were taken off and thown in the trash. These were all replaced with...

    Tuning for L35 heads.

Re: Tuning for L35 heads. If I didn't have bad luck I would have none at all. You see why I was scared of tuning myself? The motor did't drink the coolant this time. I'm interested to see what the compression test says. It feels a lot like the head gasket went between cylinders. Like you...

93 TY FS in FL--Needs motor work

It's time for me to cut my losses. This is #1036. It's just about to turn 104K miles. Since I got it in Oct of 2006 I dumped thousands into it and drove it about 2K miles. Typical story I know. The list of everything I have done to it is new paint, new tires, new Walboro, new billet AFPR...

    Tuning for L35 heads.

Re: Tuning for L35 heads. So the motor let go again. Feels like it dropped at least 2 cylinders. I was taking a very light drive and tried to get it up into very slight boost. That's when it happened. No funny noises, just lost a cylinder or two. I had datamaster running when this...

    Tuning for L35 heads.

Re: Tuning for L35 heads. OK. Code 42 is gone. No other codes present. I either had a bad connection at the distributor or ECM OR I caused the code to go off again after I reset the ECM the first time. Probably the latter. I took it for a slightly extended drive tonight. Datamaster looks...

    Tuning for L35 heads.

Re: Tuning for L35 heads. Yeah, I went back to stock heads. I knew I would be getting in way over my head with tuning. I'll be the first to admit it. If the problem is still there.......well at least I know the "platform" I am working with now. I have only let it idle in the driveway and...

    Tuning for L35 heads.

Re: Tuning for L35 heads. Thank you sir. That is what I needed to know. Last night I did find that the 4 wire connector to the distributor looked like it wasn't pushed in all the way. I rectified that. I cleaned the contacts on the computer as well. No CEL after that. The ecm has been...

    Tuning for L35 heads.

Re: Tuning for L35 heads. Thanks for that Ryan! I searched a long time for something like that last night to no avail. I noticed on DM last night that in the boxes on the upper right part of the screen. The ones telling you what is on and off. A/C clutch is one of the boxes. The very top...

    Tuning for L35 heads.

Re: Tuning for L35 heads. Stock heads are back on the truck now. I have to figure out why I have a code 42. The tan/black timing wire is connected. I also sprayed some contact cleaner on the connections. I had disconnected the ecm at one point. I guess I'll drop that back down and see if I...

    Boost Solenoid Question

Re: Boost Solenoid Question Again, I learn something new. Mine has nothing and I remember reading other posts about nothing being hooked up to it. I'm assuming that air filter thing was not necessary.?.

    Boost Solenoid Question

Re: Boost Solenoid Question Nothing connects to it. I don't know why it is there but there is no hose, wire, or anything else that goes to it.
