1991 Prototype Typhoon

A year or two ago I found a typhoon diving around that needed body work. I finally found out where the guy lived and asked him about it. He said that is was a prototype and one of the only ones with a clear title. He said that the truck had 80,000 miles and everything looked original. I looked at the VIN and it did not start out the same as any other Typhoon. He even mentioned that he had the signature of someone to verify it was a true typhoon and that it was a prototype. At the time I didn't have the money to buy the truck.

I stopped by the owners shop today to see what had happened to the truck because I could not get it off my mind. Turns out he sold the truck for 6,000. The truck needed paint bad and had rust.

He sold it to a guy in Mt Clemens Michigan who is restoring it. Has anyone heard of this truck? I read on sytyarchives that there were only 4 Prototypes made.

Do you think it is a legit prototype? The previous owner said the new owner was on some of the clubs and websites. Does anyone know the new owner of it ?

One of the guys who comes to the michigan meets has a legit proto ty, has the paperwork from PAS to back it up.

Yep, same thing that warm pancakes said....
It,s a black 91 typhoon....very rusted, but still a ty proto type.
Also, it has one of those round white stickers on the rear gate.
( like the ones people use over in europe )(possibly a over sea's test mule ? )

Yeah that is the same truck. The previous owner said that it is the only one that didn't have a salvage title. I can't believe it only went for 6,000 with only 80,000 miles, the truck did need body work.
