1st Datamaster Run (its ugly...)

If someone wants to look at it by all means I need all the help I can get lol. Max boost 11.2lbs, lots of knock, up to 10 degrees of spark retard, idles like crap, DTC code 45 (rich).

Mods: Walbro 255 with Ratronix harness, Johnson IC pump, drop in K+N, recent tune up (cap, rotor, wires, and correct plugs). Oh and no exhaust after the cat.

It was running better before I installed the Walbro. I think I have an electrical issue (too much draw from the Walbro??).

He is my reasoning- If I try to turn on the AC the truck dies.
If I roll down the power windows it will affect the idle.
If I roll down the window all the way to the bottom and continue to hold down the switch the truck will die.

Datamaster listed the Voltage as 13.4-13.9 the whole time except for the end of the run when I started playing with the window and it dropped to 12.5

Strange.

Are they always supposed to be in Closed Loop?? It was in Closed loop from the time I started it till the time I turned it off.

Truck has a New battery.

Also after it warms up when I put it back into park it the RPMs cycle from 1000-500-1000-500 back and forth back and forth. It was really bad after I first put in the Walbro. In fact it would die as soon as I put it into Reverse or Drive. I cleaned up the battery terminals and tightened everything back up and now its not as bad. Like I said- electrical problem.

Either way, the Datamaster kicks ass! Now I just have to register it. Thank you Detroit Turbo :)

Alternator?? I need to buy a voltmeter lol.

The Alien strikes again.

Edited to Add the my TPS% was maxed out at 81%..
Edited again to add: Found ONE instance where boost maxed to 15.3lbs. Noticed when I was in boost there was a mirrored drop in voltage.
Datamaster is facinating. Im going to get a hard on for this tuning shit.
Edited again to add: Playing with the Histogram. Lean conditions 2400-2800 with MAP Kpa between 40-50. Lower RPMs waaaaaay rich. 3600+Rpms with MAP Kpa 100+ mixture 'ideal'. Im going to be up all night playing with this thing...

If it is knocking 10 deg you need to stop getting into boost before damage occurs.

#2 if it knocks the computer will pull timing AND boost.

What chip do you have? What is your FP set at?

Stock Chip (at least as far I as know. Nothing was changed on the truck when I bought it).
Stock fuel system. Stock FPR.
I dont have a fuel pressure gauge for it or anything. I will have to pick one up this week.

Just using mytruck as an example, I would say your fuel system isnt up to the task. My fuel pressure was fine at idle, and even referenced correctly under boost, but when driving it went lean. I replaced my pump with a walbro 255 and wow what a difference!

As mentioned, lean conditions create knock, which the ecm reads and pulls timing and boost to compensate.

Re: 1st Datamaster Run (its ugly...)

I just put in a Walbro :)
On my data master I get the code 45 (rich) error.
Could the Walbro have messed up the stock FPR?? Truck has 97K on it so at this point im ready to replace everything :)

get an AFPR and pull both ecm fuses to reset fuel learning curve.

Re: 1st Datamaster Run (its ugly...)

Sweet, will do ASAP. I will order a AFPR today.

Thanx :)

Edited to add: Will have to wait a week or two. I'll update when I get everything installed.
Thanx again for all the info.
