1st Datamaster

OK, 1st Datamaster run. I admit I’ve never actually run Datamaster before (Just got all the pieces yesterday) so even though the graph itself makes sense there’s a lot of other data here I’m still learning about so I can use all the feedback I can get.

For example, what does a “good” run look like? Or, to say it another way, what am I aiming for as-far-as the different readouts are concerned? Do I need to post a different run of some sort?

The “run” is of a fairly light launch to about 90mph on a back road nearby just so I could post something.

Anyway, all comments appreciated.

Thanks,

Re: 1st Datamaster

i gave it a quick look and it looks like you're out of fuel (or injector) at WOT for the most part....also, your tps is showing 6.3% or .86 volts at what i believe is your idle....also system voltage is borderline at WOT as it dipped into the upper 12's....you also have some knock at WOT....overall it didn't look bad, but those are the few questionable things i saw....i'm sure others will notice things that i didn't catch....what are your mods?

Re: 1st Datamaster

Right now the truck is basically stock. I have the IC pump running full time and a blade on IC rad., K&N filter. Early on I discovered that I wasn’t physically getting full throttle. (The pedal hit the floor before the TB went to full throttle.) That’s fixed.

The plan is to keep the motor itself stock but add an Ultimate, different exhaust and maybe free up the intake a bit. I have gauges coming. I have a 3 bar but no chip yet. Also want to change the front driveline. That thing scares me.

Like I tried to say, with a stock motor, is there a nominal set of values that I should be looking for?

Thanks,

Don

Re: 1st Datamaster

a walbro FP and an adjustable FPR would be a start.....increasing your airflow with the k&n may have increased your truck's need for fuel....stock fuel pump is said to be marginal at best for a stock truck anyway.....i have a stock 58k mile, stock fuel pump typhoon that reports strikingly similar numbers as yours (now that i've done all the basic mods).... here's some good reading on fueling and 02's if you have some time to kill....

as far as datamaster values go, read BG's post in this thread to further understand the important ones....good luck

Re: 1st Datamaster

Quick question as I get started here. Could bad vacuum lines cause some of this? Reason is I have new lines and will be installing soon. Wondering what I should look for once they’re in.

Going to reroute the IC lines at the same time.

Re: 1st Datamaster

Your boost control is erratic at best...it should shoot up to your boost setting then stay. Yours is like ocean waves...common on stock trucks. Could be vacuum line related but the stock WG sucks wang and gets sticky, thus doesn't work as should. Its not properly sized either. I guess 'd try the vacuum lines first and see if that helps any. Like ya said, should do them anyway.

Actually, I think it looks pretty good, all things considered.

K&N cone, or K&N in the box? If it's an in the box, I'd take the front cover
off the airbox and cut the hole out way bigger (like the whole front of the box). Good for .2-.3.

Check your WG flapper arm, make sure it moves freely. Oil it up good with
some spray-on never-seez, or nickel-based refinery lube. Or GM heat riser
lube.

You could use 3-4 psi more fuel pressure, it looks like, but nothing major.
The Walbro Fuel pump is a good idea, as is the adjustable FPR.

I've seen a lot worse than 4 degrees of KR... a splash of xylene in the tank
will clear that right up. Might want to run a can of top-end clean through
it as well.

This is most cool. Thanx for all the feedback. SyTy.net strikes again!

Will do

Adj FPR first ya think?

Been want'n to try xylene so now I have an excuse...
