So I did alittle pull in the sy last night and got some info on datamaster. 4 things went into the red.

1-LTterm was 125
2-Inj DC was 85.8
3-Spark retard was 6.7
4-Knock count 1390

:( Can you guys help me on this?

DTC was ok

Re: 1st test with datamaster

The most important number in all of that is your 6.7 KR. That's real high! You need to start figuring out why it's knocking so bad.

The first two values pertain to your fueling. I don't know enough about it to tell you more than that.

The fourth value listed is overall knock count it kept track of. Not all that important as far as I know. It's that KR that is screaming over everything else.

Others I'm sure will chime in who make me look like a pre schooler in reading these files.

Re: 1st test with datamaster

I wouldn't say your knock count is crazy high, but mosdef higher than you'd want it to be, But that's just my experience. Obviously zero is best. Get some 100 octane and try again.

1and2: Your basically rich when its red and lean on green. Go over your histrogram, hows it looking while driving...
3. knock is ehh, not terrible. depends when your seeing it too.
4. you can get 600 counts just starting the engine sometimes and is recorded during your entire drive...

A guy named tooky put a lot of work into helping people out with what your asking too. check it out. helped me  http://www.powertuneplus.com/syclone/tunersguide_dm.shtm

Ok did a full on 0-100 pull. Is there anyway to post up the datamaster or do I need to send it to someone to view it and tell me what is going on? The pull seemed to do fine untill I got off the gas @ 100 the the spark retard went to 10+ :(

most ISPs actually give their customers free basic webspace. you could host your dm file there, then post a link to it here.

Thanks incognito!

I was looking at it again last night after 99mph the worst of the spark retard happens around 100-102 but it also looks like the inj duty cycle was above 100%. :(

Re: 1st test with datamaster

What is your target boost? I see boost at 16.7 at one point. I would not worry about you injector duty cycle being over 100%. You need to run less boost until you turn up fuel pressure. When you hit 16psi is when you get your crazy knock count. 11.8 of spark retard is VERY BAD. Dont go over 15 psi until you get things sorted out. Your intake temps are at 120 degrees. Hows your intercooler working? Your boost control is really not good. You have a lot of spikes in there at 100% TPS.
What are your mods? You need an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and better boost control. Im not really good at datamaster but this is what I see. I hope I helped. It also looks like you have the patch to get AFR readings with datamaster. Am I right?
If you have questions on what to do I can also help with that but I know people will start shouting if I say.

The truck is stock other than a hardwired ic pump and rpm fans. Yeah the boost spikes scare me damn stock WG.

Use a manual boost controller. It will solve all your spike problems. IT CANT BE UNSAFE TO DO THIS. Your ecm will not be able to use the over boost protection that it has. I personally dont have a problem with doing this and Im running one.

Re: 1st test with datamaster

I'm still learning datamaster also and was wondering if someone could tell me what determines the map kpa and the vacuum kpa values. Most truck data runs i've seen at an idle have the map kpa around 36 and vacuum around 64. My truck has 48 map kpa and a 51 vacuum kpa. Other than these two values being different everything else looks the same. The reason i ask is i'm looking for an erratic idle issue.

Re: 1st test with datamaster

make sure there is no air in that ic,make sure the right plugs are in it,make sure the fuel filter is new,set the boost at 14 psi no higher as the stock 2 bar map will not work above this.make sure wires, cap rotor etc are all new!!these will make the truck idle rough,by the way most stock trucks idle like crap anyways.

What do you mean no air in the IC? do I run the pump with the cap off and wait for all the bubbles to stop? I had new plugs cap and rotor put in this summer but I was told the wires were ok. I am going to get taylors I think.

Yeah the rough Idle was a concern for me it wants to die when you put it into gear and idles like it has a cam.:squint:

Re: 1st test with datamaster

exactly how my idle is. i've done every suggestion on here that i have found so i bought datamaster to see if someone on here can figure it out also. just need to find time to log in some runs.

Re: 1st test with datamaster

sometimes getting all the air out is a pita just make sure you can see the water flowing,if you hear the pump change tone then you know it has air in it,i would bet the wires are crap, start the truck when its dark out and look under the hood i bet you see sparks all over, you can also if you have to, turn that little set screw up by the throttle blade, but check them wires etc first.
