3 Bar GM MAP Sensor comes from what car?

can anyone tell me what car the 3 bar GM MAP sensor was originally part of? Im looking to find out the source of the unit you can buy new on www.gmpartsdirect.com with part number PN# 12223861.

I want to be able to walk into the local parts store and tell them i need the MAP for xxxx car. I already tried having them cross-reference the GM part number and it didnt do me any good.

Can anyone help out with this?

i believe it was for a 1989 pontiac turbo trans am 3.8

i think that a 90 or a 91 turbo grand prix uses a 3 bar. Not to sure on the year of th car .... sorry

It was stock on all 89 TTA 3.8v6s and im not sure if GNXs.

about that gp sorenson #...what vehicle is it for? I ordered it...but he could not tell me what the applic was let me know please at msheller@yahoo.com if you get a moment.... before we finish install on all this stuff...just wanna make doubly sure its the right sensor "77911510"

They physically plug in. They require the proper chip for the engine to be drivable.

If you look up the part number on GM Parts Direct, it subs to a new number. The details say it has a different physical connection, so you need to swap the plug too. I'm not sure when that went into effect, so you may have to do that (the old timers may not have done that, but it might be necessary now).

They physically plug in. They require the proper chip for the engine to be drivable.

To expand on that, the 2 bar and 3 bar sensors use the same voltage range or whatever. 10psi on a 2 bar will not be the same voltage as 10psi on a 3 bar. You need to recalibrate your chip to use the other sensor. A 3 bar chip with a 2 bar sensor won't just work up to 15psi, and a 2 bar chip with a 3 bar sensor won't just ignore the extra. The chip must match the sensor.

yeah i understand that, i have an ultimate chip in the mail right now and i was wondering if the 3 bar just plugs in, i see on RPM they have a conector kit for like 9 bucks
