This track is the Home of the IHRA Rocky Mountain Nationals

-After the races we have to go on the annual cruise around town to lay some smack down.
-I will have the shirts and hoodies with me.
-The street legals usually have 100+ cars racing, and at least that in spectators.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 6 @ CASTROL RACEWAY
-This weekend is a regular bracket race weekend at the track so there will be a lot of spectators and some pretty good drag racing to watch.
- We will be sharing the track with the bracket racers, but we will have our own (Syclone and Typhoon) class. $50 per car and driver.
-Sorry but racing is limited to Syclone's and Typhoon's only.
-The gates will open at 8am, tech will start about 8:30am, test and tune at 10am.
-This is an IHRA sanctioned track so all IHRA rules apply.
-Car show, so if you don't want to race, polish up you truck and bring it to the show for $20 including admission. Those with out trucks are welcome as well. $20/Adult and $10/Youth and 12 and under are free.
-Also, the staff at Castrol Raceway is great, they delay the tree a few seconds to allow us to build boost at the starting line.
-Please reply to this thread if you are coming and whether you will be racing or not.
-There will be a BBQ and drinks after the track at my place which is just down the highway from the track. You can pm or email me for directions but most of you can just follow me there from the track. Dinner will be $10 per person, We will supply the pop, but BYOB, will will stop by the Beer store on the way from the track to my place.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 7
This day can be optional.......I'm thinking meet for breakfast or the 100 foot drag race in Lacombe (south of Edmonton) that starts a 9:00 am, we can vote about it on Saturday.
We've gone to some of these before and they are pretty fun.

Thanks to Cam and Mark for setting this up again, picked a good weekend too (I'm on days off :))

Well, I'll be dropping the Sy engine off at Campbell on Friday, so depending on what they find with it whether or not I'll bring the truck but I will be there. Cam I'm gonna need 2 - 2XL t-shirts.
See everybody there.

The wife and I are going to try to make it since Tony talked me into it when he was down picking up his Impala SS.

Is there a good place to stay near there for a Travel Trailer? Or anyone have a place we can park it while we are up there. Not 100% sure we are comingyet since I have a big project rolling out at work during that time. I am trying to move things that week so I can make it up there.

Also anyone have some advice on the best roads to take from Seattle to get to Edmonton?

Paul, I hope you guys can make it!! Every year we have guys talking about making the trip from the US, but nobody has done it yet! Hopefully you can be the first!!

As for the trailer, we can probably get you into the track for the weekend, what a better place to camp  or you can camp at my place (an acreage) or there's lots of places close by to camp at! Whatever works for the wife ;)

Tony's done the drive probably more than most so he can give you some driving tips ;)

When I go up from Abbotsford, BC. I usually take Hwy #1 up through Merritt (along the Coquihalla) to Kamloops. Head north from there up to Jasper, then over to Edmonton. I'd have to look up what all the various highways are though.

Cool beans, the first yanks at the Canadian nats.

I am going to try and actually have my truck back in race trim for this year, we'll see how much time I have between now and then.

Re: 5th Annual Canadian Syclone & Typhoon Nationals, Sept 5,6,7 2008

Well, stopped by Campbell yesterday and found out I killed the engine. Both heads are cracked, pistons NFG and the rod ends are beat out of round.
I think I hurt it a couple of years ago, had a overboost problem while racing and ended up blowing and replacing the driver's side headgasket just before the 3rd nationals.

So I told Mark and Nolan to not be in a hurry to get it back together as I'm going to pretty much need a new engine so I might as well go all the way.
Block is being cemented, will get ported heads, head studs and cometic gaskets, replace rods and pistons and bring the compression up. Now I gotta put some cash away for the stronger tranny (4L80E) and BigStuff 3 ;)
