93 TY purchase

I purchased a 93 ty in the US and having problems getting it into Canada. Since the VIN# is coming up incomplete, Transport Canada wants test documents from the final stage manufacturer (PAS) for all applicable US federal motor vehicle standards.Since PAS is no longer in business I cannot find any information. My options now are to export my TY or destroy it. Can anyone shed some light on there experience of importing there ty into Canada.

:dunno: Did you find out if Typhoon's are on the list of admissable vehicles? When I imported mine they were, but since then they seem to not be on it anymore, your not the only person to have this problem.

Where are you from?

It doesn'st specifically mention the ty's as not being inadmissable, but mentions the GMC Jimmys as being admissible. What part of the country are you from?

I'm from Edmonton.

Well, Jimmys are entirerly different.....they have complete vin's, Typhoons don't because they were not complete vehicles when they were sent over to PAS for final assembly.

Had you called RIV to see if Ty's were on the list of admissable vehicles?

Is there a way to lie about VIN #? Maybe pass it off as Jimmy...?
No :rotf: You have to export it out of the U.S first then import it into Canada with the export papers from the U.S..........

No, it is already on record. It maybe possible to purchase a 93 gmc jimmy and switch vin# , but I do not want to go that route.

Importing

I am in the process right now of importing my Ty, I have to get mine inspected by March 12. When I got the recall letter from GM they were doubtfull that I could import the Ty as it was sold as incomplete. I phoned RIV and asked them specifically about a Typhoon , they assured me that I could import the truck. Please give me a call at 780-446-5132 next week and let me know how you are doing. Where are you located, what was the build date of your Ty. There are about 6 Typhoons in the Edmonton area which is unusual as they were never sold new in Canada. If you have to return it or want to sell it let me know.
