Sick of searching. Any issue running a stock 96 Vortec in place of stock syty engine? I can tune to fix boost etc. I just don't want to get stuck with a can of worms.
Effectively? Everyone talks about it but I don't see anyone that actually did it. Seems like it would be decent with good head design but balance shaft nedds to go and cam need to be changed. High compression = severe timing change and high octane ?

I have done it and the compression ratio is around 9:1. You need to run 3-4 psi less on pump gas. I kept the balance shaft and did change but a cam change is not required. The Vortec cam is a much better cam than the stock SyTy cam.
