After 4 years my brothers Syclone is back on the road

Hi everyone

This is my first post on this forum. My only brother passed away in Nov of last year and left me with his beloved Syclone. The problem was that it had a broken rod and most of the engine had been taken apart and put in boxes. After 6 months of research and many long hours I fired her up this last Saturday June 4th. It was a very happy moment for me. I'm sure that somewhere my brother Larry is smiling . I was born and raised in the Bay area and look forword to cruising the Sy as much as I can.

Hi Ray,
It's great that you are continuing on with the Sy for your brother. I bet, too, that he's smiling down on you, knowing his truck is in good hands.. Hope to see you in here lots, you will find that there is lots of information to be had in this forum. There are a bunch of nice people in here too, that will help you if you need it
I have Sy #410 blk/blk, pretty much stock.. I've had it since 1998, and still love it. I think you will have fun with your brothers. Tell us all about it when you can.

Thanks for the kind remarks I really appreciate it . I have been driving the Sy around and having a blast with it. Its a very cool truck! When and where is Tom Dowds bbq?

I too am so sorry to hear of your Brother's passing. Where did he live and did he ever attend one of my functions in San Jose. I am hoping that I know most if not all of our local members. Im really sorry about your loss. I know how you feel. Here's my story that explains...
I lost my Dad a little over five years ago. He had a 1963 Chevy truck that my Grandpa bought new and it had just been sitting and had stopped running. He kept saying that he was going to get it back on the road. After he died it sat in my Mom's yard for a few years untill i talked her into selling it to me. Now i have it running again and looking better than ever. I know that my Dad and Grandpa would both be proud of the work ive put into it. I can feel their smiles every time I drive it. Enjoy it!

Hi everyone

Thanks again for the encouraging words (I really do appreciate it). JK that's a good story with a great ending! I'm still working on the Sy (everyday) and am hoping to get some wax on her by next week. I'll post some pictures then. My bro took all the stickers off it so Its now just a little black truck that scares the crap out of the few people who had rode with me so far. I built the engine myself and installed it myself. It has forged pistons, Eagle I beam rods, 0.20 over. Every part I could touch I replaced. Surprisingly a lot of O.E. parts are still available through GM. I want to keep her stock for the most part.
