http://www.trillian.cc/

Allows you to use one chat client to talk and all the different chat services. This will allow you to log on to ICQ and AIM at the same time using one application instead of one for each.

Enjoy,

Well, that may be true, but I know many of us chat about SYTY topics via ICQ and/or AIM. I hate having multiple programs running that do the same thing. I found Trillian today and thought it might be useful to others. Excuse me for trying to help. If it needs to be moved to the off-topic forum so be it.

I been using it for a few months now, pretty cool stuff.

Only thing is that AOL/AIM don't want you using this for AIM connection, so they do whatever they can to discourage it. So you might have a few times where you have to upgrade your Trillian version, or ya won't get connected. There was a week or two where it just didn't work, but it's been very stable for the last couple months.

I like it for 2 reasons - I have only one chat client open - and because it keeps a log of chats, something AIM never did. So i could have saved every word in the chats between Matthew and myself ;)

I was using ICQ 99b as it had all the new features I wanted, but none of the annoying ads or useless crap yet. Recently they decided that they didn't like people using older versions, and it would drop a ton of messages. When it got to the point where I could only send one message to a person a day, I switched to Trillian. It's probably just because I'm used to ICQ, but there are a few little things that bug me about Trillian, but overall it's pretty good. Especially with all the different chat programs it can replace...

For you paranoid types, you can also have SecureIM conversations between Trillian clients. Your conversation is encrypted, so you don't have to worry about those damn pinko commie nazi viet cong reds intercepting your cybersex. Or something.

AIM users might find http://toc.oscar.aol.com handy too. I've had weird issues where it says the right login/password is wrong, but it seems to be only on Win95. If you're using Mozilla, you have to allow Javascript to open unrequested windows for it to work too.
