I'm going to be installing Alky soon and wondering what to do since I have a rpm cold air kit? What's my options without removing the CAI?

Which Alky kit are you guna run?? If its the Alkycontrol kit, you can mount the Tank on the Drivers side if you don't have ABS.

Yes I'll be using a alky control kit. I do have the abs still so I'm not sure what my options will be.

Re: Alky tank with CAI

The track said I couldn't have the tank in the engine compartment. But gave me time to reconfigure. I spent part of that winter installing a tank in the bed. The line runs along the frame then inside the box section to the pump which is mounted below where the vac ball would be. I'll take some pictures. Fair amount of work but NHRA legal. (I guess, I've never looked up the rule...:rotf:) The pump does seem to get hot there though. Wouldn't think so but it does. I've got mine wrapped.

Here's what I am doing.... I don't like the alky tank on the passenger side fender well because it places the tank outlet forward - acceleration forces liquid away from the pickup! Placing it on the driver's side forces liquid into the pickup. This isn't completely dialed in, but you can see where I'm headed with it.

That would of been my location but I still have the abs. Nice engine bay tho:tup:

Code what?
Same reason I put mine in the rear, same as Don. Wouldn't pass tech at the track. Plus, I just don't have a good feeling about keeping a flammable fluid under the hood.

Here's my pump install. You can just see the pressure line on the right. The other link showed the remainder of the install. Since I wrapped the pump it doesn't take nearly as long to "prime" itself. I haven't but probably should cover the line up to the nozzle as well.

Side note RE meth tank in the engine compartment. Doesn't meth burn without a visible flame? Just sayin'.

This is the hose coming out of the frame rail. Yes, those are the mounting bolts for the pump.

Re: Alky tank with CAI

Hey wyosyclone,
Ive been reading this thread on your cold air intake heat shield! fantastic work making it up and fabing it for the engine bay. You do really great work! Ive been wanting to buy the rpm CAI as well as it seems to be the only CAI common to these trucks that i can find on most sites. The thing is I cant justify it unless I made a heat shield like you have. With saying that, are keen on spreading your knowledge on the measurements for the heat shield? I would really like to make one myself, just need a little guidance in doing so.
Thanks for your time!

Thanks Greg!
I sent my template to Aaron (ATKONKLER) so that he could make one for his truck... he was supposed to then send it to SportsMachines to gauge their interest. So, I no longer have my template :(
You could ask Aaron if he still has it.

I'm leaning towards pulling off my abs and moving the Alky kit to the driver side. Did you ever get it done?
