Alternatives to pillar pods?

JayLo

Sir Boost-a-Lot
Does anyone make a two or three gauge pod that fits somewhere other than the pillar?

I need to add gauges to my truck, but I'd like to keep them out of sight from other drivers. Sorry if this is a repeat question. Thanks.

The only mass produced one I have seen for our trucks is the old kenne bell one, which goes on your cup holders and has gauges and switches in it.

Your going for the total stealth, stock look huh.

It depends on which gauges you want to put in a pod. If its something important, like boost I wouldnt put it out of eye sight. Just a thought. But for like Tranny/IC temp's then the one DOM just said would probably work best.

Yeah, my truck will be as sleeper as a stock looking Syclone gets.

Any idea where I can pick one of those up? Have any pictures of one?

Re: Alternatives to pillar pods?

Someone had a dual gauge set up molded to fit where the drivers side dash speaker/grille normally goes. I dunno who it was or if they made more but I saw it on a sy at the nats in GB so some digging might turn up a pic of it.

Re: Alternatives to pillar pods?

I have three Autometer cups mounted to the left side of the dash and am going to be adding more to the right side of the dash. The nice thing about this is that it keeps them all in the same place as the factory gauges so you can see everything in one area w/o taking your eyes off the road too much. People looking for an A-Pillar pod from outside won't notice them there either. Not sure about putting them in the cup holder or under the dash as that's a long way to look from the road. The longer you take your eyes off the road the more the likelihood of something bad happening. :2cents:

I can take some pics tomorrow if you want to see them.

I'd be interested in seeing a picture or two if you have them. How much would one of these (say, a 4 gauge one) set me back?

Re: Alternatives to pillar pods?

I like the center one but mine would be a lil different they would be layered at different hights for driver to see better and angled.. I can make a few different prototypes

WHAT WOULD YOU GUYS LIKE TO SEE MOST.. (so I dont waste a bunch of time)

Dash where speaker grille is (tryed it insterment cluster kinda gets in the way)
center console (cup holders are worthless as sh-t under boost anyway)can someone get my drink out of the backseat please
or under dash (lots of unused space you could put 20 gauges down there
LOL)

let me know Adam and I will get er done

I'd like to see the speaker pod. Although I probably wouldnt buy it because I have the pillar and I think it looks nice.

Re: Alternatives to pillar pods?

The best location in my opinion (line of sight) would be right across the top of the syty gauge bezel....not sure if it would be the easiest though and you might have to mess up an already rare and non existent part...also, running the wires and/or plumbing might be a little tricky.... :2cents:

Re: Alternatives to pillar pods?

I'd like to see a cup holder one, or one that mounts under the dash. My only stipulation is I want one that I can install and remove without cutting or drilling the original interior panels. I guess this means it would have to be capable of being snapped or clipped in place or held there with industrial strength Velcro (sounds ghetto, I know, but the stuff works pretty well).

Re: Alternatives to pillar pods?

i just had an idea about this today...

how about some cup gauge holders placed on the dash, but behind the syty cluster, on the regular blazer dash board, i think it would be the best solution and i'll be putting what every gauges i do next there.
