Any disadvantages...

I have had a bunch of trouble w/ idling and surging.....anyway I took a paperclip and connected it between A and B terminals /comport( where you plug in your scanner)...it seemed to help my problems...any long term disadvantages to driving around with A & B connected....appreciate input...

i foreget what that does. but have you ruled out ignition? could be a bad ignition module, etc.....
more info would help us out to provide a better diagnosis with your complaint.

A and B, i think that one is for resetting your IAC, a bad IAC sensor can make it idle like crap

could a bad iac affect the trucks idle when its cold? I hear a lot of people have preoblems with idle when the truck is warm but mine is when its cold and I dont know why. (sorry bout the thread jack)

Crossing those two will put the vehicle into "field service mode" - I wouldn't rely on that for daily driving. You can check trouble codes with the engine off, key on with these connected. Figure out what is causing your trouble, and get that fixed...

Is the IAC the Intake Air Temp Sensor, or Idle Position, or what?

Idle Air Control, and that would definatly cause a poor idle condition, wheter it be not functioning (it's a step motor in the TB) or the air passages dirty/clogged, I would check that out!!!

Ok, I know exactly what you are talking about now. I am also thinking of changing all of my injector "O" rings. But I will check the IAC tomorrow. I bet that is what is going on with my idle. Thank to all for the info.
