:dunno:

I was sitting in the staging lanes right beside a brand new seriously gay yellow Cobra.

Dude was intense,I mean he had a Cobra,ya know?

So I hollerd at him. "Hey man,is that thing SUPERCHARGED??"

He just smiled and nodded.

:haha:

I proceeded to put like 12 Greyhound bus lengths on him in a 1/8 mile.

I prolly shoulda just stopped at the finish line, jumped on my hood and lit up a smoke whilst I waiyed for him to finish.

But I didn't, and he went from pit road to out the gate.

:haha:

Holy crap, that was me who got in on it with that mustang. I had just left the car cruise and was going about 40 and passed the stang. He was probabally going about 35. This was on the 4 lane avenue going thru a couple of towns. I passed him and ahead I pulled back into the right lane. I caught a light and he moved over into the left lane beside me.

He made no jesture of wanting to race and we started off normal and then when he hit it and I heard his engine rev and tires start to squeal, I punched it. My truck was running like crap. Had problems all summer and could only get about 14lbs and then it was breaking up. I had problems ever since I installed my new 3inch down pipe and meth injection.

We were door handle to door handle and if we were glued together. When hit about 70mph he started pulling on me a inch at a time and had me about a fender when we got out of it and stopped at the next light.

Since that encounter, I have my truck somewhat running better than that day. My plug gap was two wide and was getting blown out. Gapped them at 25 and is running better now. I'm running pretty good now up to about 20lbs and just got a laptop and datamaster and when I learn how to tune it better, I plan to run a 23-24 lb tune.

I didnt even boost launch on the guy and didnt even know we were gonna race till he punched it. I feel like going on that mustang forum and calling him out to redeem myself and the sy/ty community. I know how crappy my truck was running that day and if thats all he had, he will definitely get his ass handed to him next time.

2005 Mustang GT/Manual/C&L Street CAI/Doug's 93 Race Tune

He has an '05 GT with a cold air intake and "race tune".

Stock:
0-60 mph : 5.1 sec.(manual)
0-¼ mile : 13.9 sec @ 104.0 mph

I think you got him by over a second 0-60 and 1.5 seconds in the 1/4.

Re: Apparently, even in defeat...

I just registered myself on the mustang forum. I will tell my side of story and see what comes of it.

Re: Apparently, even in defeat...

I tried to post on their forum but am waiting for my privleges from their administration. I think this is gonna be very interesting. Will probabally have all the mustangs in the area after me before its over.

Funny thing is, I like Mustangs too. I was just over today at my daughter in laws fathers house checking out his 2007 Saleen. That thing was pretty sweet and only had 14k on it. It was stock except for the exhaust. He would have taken me for a ride but there was a snow/rain/sleet mix going on at the time.

Mustangs are cool, I had an '89 5.0L LX and loved it. Been looking at some fox body Saleens and the new 5.0's have a great engine and performance. I'm just not a fan of the newer body style but it's growing on me. They are a lot of fun to drive which is what it's all about..

LOL...to think I came across that while killing time on the net...the beauty of a small community, the person behind the story eventually pops up. It should be fun to see how all this plays out and if he gives you a rematch.

I think once I get access to post on his forum and ask for a chance to redeem myself. He will have no choice if he wants to save face with all of his forum members .

His story doesn't seem too far off from what you said. Sounds like if you even launched on him it wouldn't have been much of a race.

Re: Apparently, even in defeat...

Those notch backs are my favorites. Thats one sharp looking stang. I would love to have that.

Hmm, just a little uglier on the inside as our trucks:lol:

Truth be told...really, a whole lot uglier than our trucks. This one has roll up windows, no factory AC and no radio (factory delete) but that is what I wanted. All business.

If Jimmy evers gets well, I have this, a 2007 Z06 or a 2000 Cobra R waiting for him. His choice.....yes, I never learn!

Have to be careful with the fox body sleepers, especially the LX's. Those suckers are much lighter than the GT's.

Nice ride, btw.

Thanks, man. This one isn't much of a sleeper. It has a bassani full race exhaust and a fully built 331 Ford Sportsman stroker block with trick flow heads and intake. It sounds like a tornado and the S/C whine is quite pronounced. A SyTy would definately get me outta the hole on the street but I promise you, the enjoyment would be short lived. Hope to see the rematch results between the Sy and the 05 GT pertaining to this thread. If he gets a decent launch out of the hole, the GT is toast!!

This was during my first shakedown at the track...still dialing in the tune. MPH was there, but still playing with the launch. The Mustang guy was parked 2 cars away from me at the track and was pretty hot on his stuff...pulley, intake, exhaust, tune. After that run, he parked very far away from me!

Re: Apparently, even in defeat...

I just tried to post on the Mustang Forum and my account is still not activated. Will give it another try tomorrow.
