MY experience says no but I was really lucky or something. Next time around I'm sure I will get bit by the money bug.

I always have and always will when i truck becomes unreliablebe is its becaue if owner neglect.
I think in stock form treated properly they will be just as reliable as anything else on the road, but just not as fast as they could be.

I run 1 stocker, and 1 moderate modded TY . The stocker is almost as reliable as a normal car/truck. It needs more oil changes, many more plug changes, and more stupid things like prop shaft , CV ... repairs. This is street use with plenty of 0-60 bursts.The moderate modded TY is broke about half the time, but the funnest thing ever when running! I autocross, hillclimb, and bash everything with little engines/large mufflers on the street.

I've driven mine daily since i've owned it.. bout 3 or so years now and only have had issues with propshafts bending and breaking but that's due to my late night habbets. Other then that nothing except a few weeks ago a brake line bursted but that was due to age.

I find this is or has been the case with the last 4 cars I've owned for some odd reason. :dunno: Its all in eye of the beholder. If you let it go to waste, or go 10k between oil changes and run it WOT all the time, then something is going to go. But if you take care of it and treat it right it'll last for ever.

Not a Ty or Sy, but yesterday I was surprised to pop my hood and see that I have an antifreeze leak. :rant: Engine was replaced earlier this year by a guy whose job was actually to remove the motors of the cars if they went to a dealership and had a problem. He pulls them and tears them apart and rebuilds them to find out what the problem was. So apparently a seal has gone bad on it or something. I dunno. But went out and bought a bottle of coolant/antifreeze to make sure the levels stay up until I can get the time to get over to dude's house and have him take all the motor head and crap off to see what seal went bad on it. Anyways, just wanted to rant really....however, I guess considering the fact I paid him $1700 for a complete rebuild on the motor with all new parts, I shouldn't bitch too much. Other places were talking an average of $3k.

i'd agree with as long as you take care of them they're great. mine is good till i get a small problem and spend weeks looking for it cause i don't have a datamaster and have a tight budget and don't like to just throw parts at it till it's fixed, i want to know 100 percent what i'm replacing is bad

My Typhoon has been daily driven from 46K-62K.
When I first got it I did the following, before I started daily driving the truck:
Tires and rims
Brakes
ABS
Upper Ball Joints
Alignment
Exhaust (ATR stainless)
Upgraded CD player and speakers.
Coolant Flush (the machine one).
This summer I did a full tuneup (cap, rotor, plugs.) Thats about it. I have never launched the truck, and about 80+% of the driving is highway, and about 90% of the time I drive it like a naturally aspirated truck, so far so good. I use Moble 1 Synthetic, every 3000 miles, with an oil filter change.

I've been daily driving my Typhoon since October of 98, had 68000 miles on it and now it's got 121000. No big problems to speak of 'cept overrun gear went out about 4 years ago or so....but the tranny still works fine.

My typhoon went 150000 miles with little maintainence... like, it was badly in need of a tune up for the last 50k, and the turbo was toast. That, and the holes in the floorboard were enough "justification" for a major resto-mod, but it was plenty reliable before that

My stock 135k Ty I just sold was the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. I wouldn't hesitate a second to drive it anywhere, anytime. Seems like many people that bitch the most about their trucks being unrealiable pieces of crap, either don't do their own wrenching and pay out the ass for "maintenance" repairs, or just straight up neglect their trucks.

my truck now i bought it with problems so i never ran right. my ty clone had 85,000 on a rebuilt motor that was rebuilt back to stock specs and equipment. i drove it abusively for 20,735miles everyday for a year and a half until "I" over boosted it to many times and hurt it. it was the most fun i ever had. i put 4 trannys, 2 distributors 2 alternators changed the oil every 3000 miles useing regular castrol and nevr had a prob. i maintained it regularly and it loved being raced. i think they can be reliable if you know your limit and how to take care of it...
