I split My 4l80 case in half!!!! Just kiddin

George ,Im working on a LT1 swap out of a 96 Impalla SS into a Typhoon. Id like to use the Impalla trans and a ECU from a 93/ 94 Camaro (OBD 1) to control engine and trans . My questions are:

#1 The output shaft in the Impalla trans is way long and allthough the typhoon transfercase adpter bolts up no problem, Its sticking out 8 inches past the back. Is it possable to swap the output shafts from the 700r4 to the newer 96 4l60e
.
#2 If not what do i need two continue to use the Typhoon 700r4 other than hooking the TV cable to the throttle body somehow.

#3 I also have a 9" 3000 stall converter from the 700r4 .Will that work in the 4l60 as well. I know you have the answers. Thanks

the 700 shaft will work in the 60E you just wont be using the gov gear part of it. I've done it before.

Re: ATT: GEORGE BLAKE Help

Since your doing that, get one of the newer 4L70e 4x4 shafts. It is a much nicer unit (better material, shot peening, etc). You don't need the governor gear and its a step up but at the same time, cheaper than a 4340 unit(you can get those as well if you want to step up to that). Just depends. If it is a budget unit, then of course go by the cheapest means possible.

Yes its a budget build!! So the 700r4 shaft will fit into the 4l60. What about the converter from the 700 will that work?

Theres a very large difference there between the 93 and 94 ECU. The 93's had no provisions for trans control since the cars used a700R4 with TV cable and such. They also use chips like our stock ECM. The 94's on the other hand have provisions for trans control and are flashable instead of using chips.
