my buddy just finished dropping a cammed LS1 into his GMC sierra shortbed.

I had him by a half a length till about 40, then he pulled on me and at 100 he had 2 lengths on me. :( (i was running 10psi, and didn't do a brake boosting launch)

other buddy got a video, i'll have to get him to email it to me.

its ok buddy... i wont talk to much shit bout it. atleast if nothing else it was another gm and not a lightning. get that boost up cause we put my good tune in and we'll see how we do at the flash light drags :)

build some boost at the line and it'll be alot longer before he catchs up to you.

its been runnin pretty good lately. i think once he gets his motor built to where he can boost up and i get my supporting mods done it should make for an interesting race

hell probalby pull on me off hte line everytime (doh obviously casue the awd) but my cam dont make its real power till top end, so probably at the end of the track i should be haulin ass

There are two hispanic brothers with whipplecharged LS1s up here that I have raced, and though they are fast, in a street race the were both left in the dust :0

Yea, SyTys are street warriors. LSx motors are beasts from a roll unless you get a sticky tire on em. Then watch out no matter what. Either way, that's why I have both.

My daildy driver is a 00Z28 and they wouldn't rape a syty with sticky tires but they would give a run for the money (tytilIdieknows about this) I ran a brand new STI from a 30 and 40 mph roll and the LS shinned well just the other day!

Oh yeah. The SyTy launch is hard to overcome. I doubt your average LS1 F body or Vette could get around a SyTy on the street. But I love LSx top end. :tup:

Ive raced a few LS1's with DR's. They were also modded pretty good. One was a 02 WS6. He had me by 4 cars at the 1/4. Other was a 00T/A and he didnt beat me, I had about teo n him. I also raced a 02 Z28 with DR's, lightly modded, I had a good 3-4 cars on him by the end. LSx's are a waste IMO. Unless youre a gay freeway racer, I jsut dont see the point. J/K, they are fun cars, I drive my buddies WS6 once in a while but Ild rather have my TY any day of hte week. Top end is fun but you dont get to use it well very often.

no i get to use mine a fair bit. to me awd is pointless unless your runnin in the low 12s and faster. just look at brandons truck, he pulled MAYBE a fender length on me from the start then i just started gainin on him. now if your crankin out some of hte numbers that some of you guys are, then i can see having awd... even then ive seen chevelles pull of 9s in the 1/4

there is a guy Parish, over on PT.Net with a twin turbo 408, hes 4wd and hes actually convertin to 2wd i think to lose weight but thats neither here nor there, its all what your into... for me its V8s, even if i had a sy/ty id take the 4.3 outta it and put in a V8 lol.... not trying to knock any of your rides so dont get offend cause there still all bad ass, just statin my personal pref :)

but when its all said and done it was a good race, he was right there with me till the end and if he gets it runnin the way its supposed to it should make it interesting, good run bud :tup:

The guy's name is Jim and he's on here too, though he hasn't posted in a year or more. He's going to 2WD because he no longer races the truck on the street and wants to break into the 9's at the track. The standard LS truck block will not hold the heads down at his power level so more power is not an option to get there.

For the street, AWD/4WD > *.
