Friday night I went street racing again, Lined up against what was claimed to be a stock z28 (99 i think) We took off and I had him by 4 lengths till about 75 then he flew past me. I get back and ask him whats done and he claims only exhaust, he showed me under the hood and it looks stock and unless he has had some internals done my only explination is that its a factory freak.?! most other z28's i will beat to 100.

After we got done i went to see what there was on the blvd, i pull up next to a dodge cummins at a light and the passenger asks me "is that a diesel" (I have open exhaust so lotsa turbo noise) dumb farm kids

kills:
02' WRX (wagon) turbo,FMIC,engine manegment, downpipe
All of the honda hatches you can shake a stick at
Turbo'd 1st gen neon<-- this was funny i gave him a 2sec headstart
2 2nd gen DSM's (mitsu eclipse) one was kinda fast held 3 lengths

losses:
That stupid Z28
02' WRX sedan (12sec) tons-o-mods

Not bad for a nights worth! Perhaps that Z28 had some nos? ALot of people around here have their nos hidden...

my god the LS1 must have had a 427 or something in there because there's no way a lightly modded one could ever run 12's....oh wait I went 12.74 @ 110 with just an airlid and exhaust cutout.

12s isn't 12s on the street in an f body unless you have some sticky tires on that shit

It didnt have NOS i checked everywhere for that, but its funny that you should mention the rearmounted turbo theres a guy around here with one ill get some pics next time i see him. by the way all of that piping back to the motor acts like a intercooler its really weird.

That time was on street radials (Firestone SZ50's to be exact) and also on a 1.98 60'

Not to but in, I have been reading the post and can't resist. A couple of buddies of mine have new LS1 F bodies and they can run the number if the person knows how to drive. Most of them on the street can't drive, ESPECIALLY the six speed cars. Most I have seen can't shift. One friend has a 98 WS-6 6-speed and completely stock with stock tires he was running 13.30's and 40's at 105 mph and this guy knows how to drive. That mph indicates the car is capable of high 12's with better tires.
My other buddy has a 98 Z NOT a ram air, just basic LS-1 with automatic and on stock tires he can run in the 13.60's at 102 mph. These are stock cars with no bolt ons, I would not be surprised to see one in the 12's with a few bolt ons even on stock tires. There are a few around here. I am not a big fan of new cars but I have to give credit to that LS-1, great engine with a few bolt ons they can really fly. Just thought I'd throw that out there. Don't mean to ruffle any feathers.

Thats nothin. My best friend has an 00 SS Six-speed that went 12.88 @ 109 bone stock right down the the paper air filter. I almost couldn't believe it myself when I saw it. I think I even have it on video somewhere.

I believe it, the 00 models have the LS-6 intake and better exhaust system and make quite a bit more power than the 98 models, they are generally 2-3 tenths faster than the first year LS-1 cars. Also my buddy ran his in 90 degree heat and 100% Cincinnati humidity, not the best conditions to say the least. Cooler temp may have picked it up a little. Never the less they all run decent providing they have a good driver behind the wheel. But hey not knocking syty's, I have a 92 typhoon and I can 60 foot the heck out of my buddies 98 6-speed but after about 70 or so he starts coming, and both of our cars at the time were completely stock, paper filters and all.

I believe the LS-6 intakes started appearing in 01. At least my friends SS doesn't have one. But your right it did have a high flowing SLP exhaust right from the factory. Bottom lines LS1 cars can be pretty damn fast with very little mods.

On a side note we ended up spraying the SS this year. On a 100 shot it went 12.5 @ 117. Oviously traction was a huge problem (hence the crappy ET) but that MPH is just awesome.

Awsome mph with simple 100 shot. With better traction it will easily run 11's. My friend installed moser 12 bolt, chrome molly drive shaft with 1350 series yokes, better clutch etc... and is now modifying the motor, ported heads, LS-6 intake and new cam etc... wants to go fast, won't know till spring. I am sure it will waste my typhoon when it's done, oh well.
Yours sounds cool though,,, Later, Larry.

A friend had an 00 SS A4. I'm pretty sure it didn't have the LS6 intake. With a few small things, headers probably being the biggest mod, his best was a 12.8.
