Blow-off Valves

I had the steel flange that came with the BOV welded onto a piece of exhaust pipe about 4" long and the same diameter as the IC inlet to make a kinda tee fitting. I then cut the rubber hose and installed the pipe just before the IC using hose clamps. I then put the BOV on the flange and ran silicon vaccum line of the correct size from the BOV over to the manifold where the big line comes off for the brake booster. I installed a brass tee fitting from NAPA on the manifold there to tee in my vaccum line. This is also a good place to tap into for a boost gauge. I will try to make some pics, but it will be next week before I will have access to my digital camera. The BOV comes with washers to set the spring tension. With no washers installed, mine didn't leak any boost at WOT at 15-16psi. However I installed two washers anyway just to be safe.

Hi guys. I started a group purchase on the HKS valves and flanges. I got a deal on them and we only need to order five of them to get these prices. Check it out!!!

Post the prices so people know what's up!

If you can't get them for 180 or less, it's not a good deal IMO.

i got a blitz universal BOV brand new from a friend of mine, but it came with an aluminum flange. anyway to make a custom aluminum pipe, since you cant really weld aluminum to steel? or should i just say eff it and get a new flange?

secondly how do you hook the thing up once you got it welded to the pipe? the one i got came with directions, but theyre in chinese or some asian language.

ok the final BOV question... from me at least.

ok now im supposed to hook the vacuum line from the BOV into the same vacuum line that goes from the manifold to the brake booster? so if i have an aftermarket boost gauge already set up, ill need to "T" into that line again?

how do you pull that off? buy that one guys bolt thingy with the 1/8" npt already drilled into the side, and drill a hole on the other side and put another 1/8th on there?

You could Tee off 2 lines from the brake booster, but I wouldnt tee off the small line feeding a boost gauge.

The only other good place to use is the source from the front of the intake manifold. Tee off the line before it goes under the throttle body

yea actually the guy who makes those fittings can do a custom job for you.
i actually have 2 fittings going off the brake booster line. exactly like how you need it. the fitting that he uses is 6 sided, so how he did it for me was tapped into one side, skipped one, and then tapped another side. works great...

Let's not confuse anyone here. The BOV's only purpose is to open and release boost when there is a difference in it's pressure signal from it's vac port and the pipe it's on.

You're splittin' hairs, Jedi. The BOV opens when it senses a difference in pressure. I was over-simplifying for bandwidth's sake. Why is there a difference in pressure? Because you let off the gas. Why did you let off the gas? Because you don't need any more boost. Am I missing something?

You said the same thing that I said.
