Broken Cladding

My Syclone #? has broken cladding at the right rear corner. I would like to try to weld it. Besides a crack, there is a missing piece about 3 in sq. So I need a filler piece. Anyone have some junk I could buy?

Also, I need to remove some cladding to paint the truck, but I've heard the fasteners are rusty and hard to remove without ruining everything. Any tips? Should I even attempt to remove the cladding?

And how can I find out my #?

Thanks, Dave

The cladding is held on by metal rivets. You need to drill out the center of the rivet so you can then pop out the rest of it out. Get a good drill bit, a good pair of dikes, and take your time so you dont damage any more cladding.

This thread will tell you where to get new rivets I posted the sizes needed. Make sure you read the entire thread as the company name has changed.

As far as filler... Ive used fiberglass with excellent results on various pieces of cladding, but I work with the stuff on a daily basis, so it's easy for me to do the work.

We sell and repair cladding. We could fix your piece to oem specs, or we could get you a new one and give you a core price for yours.

Re: Broken Cladding

You can weld or use epoxy to repair the cladding. I like to weld most of the time. But in some situations I find epoxy works just fine. Others use epoxy only and it works well for them.

On your missing piece. I picked up a bumper cover that was laying on the side of the road and used it. It's TPO plastic instead of TPU. It took a little while to learn to weld the two different plastics together. But I got them to weld and it worked out well. I didn't try epoxy with the two different plastics. So I can't tell you how that would work out. It may work better.
