c5 z06 rear disc brakes input

I've got kore3 brackets and rear c5 z06 calipers sitting in the garage for a long time now. I was thinking of finally getting started on it.

Has anyone done a write up on the install or how-to ?

I did the fronts with cbr brackets and a good set of instructions. It was pretty simple. I assume the rears aren't very difficult, but wanted to do a little reading/research before I get started.

Should I be replacing any brake lines "while I'm in there" ?

The rears are easy... but time consuming. You'll need to have the outside of the axle flanges turned down about 1/4" (verify with directions). Good time to do the axle seals and some good synthetic read diff fluid. The biggest pain was mounting the rear brake lines, I ended up cutting them right after the arched over the leaf springs but before they dip back towards the axle. You'll see.

Rears on mine are fantastic. Tobin will help you if you run into issues.

Throws, did you have this problem? I don't have clearance to mount the bracket.

Re: c5 z06 rear disc brakes input

if you move the caliper bracket to the other side of the axle flange what happens ?? im assuming it will be to far in the oposite direction ?? i did mine 10 years ago but i remeber a bunch of washers or spacers, what if you mounted the bracket on the other side of the flange and made a spacer to position the caliper bracket where you needed it ??

I thought about that and that's probably what I will need. I would need a different bracket.
This is the bracket I have:

Re: c5 z06 rear disc brakes input

Here is what kore3 told me. I have an older style rear end.

"The bracket kit you purchased was designed for a 10-bolt with the small GM inverted trapezoidal housing pattern and 2.81” brake offset dimension, which is the distance from the outside of the axle housing flange where the bracket mounts to the outside of the axle flange where the rotor would mount. Based on the picture you provided, your brake offset would appear to be significantly less. Your axle housing would also appear to be the 1990 and earlier 3-bolt flange type (G-body/early S10) modified to look like the small GM inverted trapezoidal application, but still with the short ~2.38” offset dimension. The only way that I can see those brackets working with that axle would be to remove one of the four mounting bolts from the brackets, opening up with ID through the bracket, mounting it to the reverse side of the flange and then spacing out the caliper as required."

They do offer the correct bracket for me:
"We actually do have a bracket for the G-body/early S-10 housing ends, but they utilize the upper mounting hole that you’ve removed, so they would not be compatible with the housing you have in its current condition."

So I already chopped the top of the axle flange, now I either need to modify the bracket that I have and adjust for the spacing of the caliper or get a new type of bracket.

Update to this...I ended up cutting the bracket and adding some spacers.
