Can It Beat A Hemi

Ok I don't know if this counts as a kill because it was total domination! So last night I was driving down the road in my TY and stopped at a light and this guy in a Dodge Ram 1500 pulls up next to me and says hey man what kind of suv is that, of course I had to tell him. He also asked is it fast and I just laughed at him then the next thing he said had me ROTFL " CAN IT BEAT A HEMI" I just looked at him and smiled. The light turns green and and I hit the gas and boom like a bullet from a gun by the time I hit 60 he was at least 8 cars behind me. So I slow down and let him catch up and of course he says that it is the baddest suv he has ever seen! That had me grinning from ear to ear all night!

Re: Can It Beat A Hemi

The advertising people at Chrysler Corp have duped the buyers of their so called "HEMI"...

Read on...

Perhaps the most widely known proponent of the hemispherical chamber design is the Chysler Corporation. Chrysler became identified primarily by trademarking the "Hemi" name and then using it extensively in their advertising campaigns beginning in the 1960s. Chrysler has produced three generations of such engines: the first (the Chysler FirePower engine) in the 1950s, the second (the 426 Hemi), developed for NASCAR in 1964 and produced through the early 1970s, and finally the "new Hemi" in the early 2000s. The "Hemi" engine introduced in 2002 by DaimlerChrysler had a combustion chamber featuring valve and spark plug locations markedly different from the 426ci Hemi engine of muscle car fame. The current-production "Hemi" V8 with its pinched chamber, does not have true hemispherical combustion chambers despite the name. Rather, it bears a closer resemblance to the mid-1950s Polyspherical chamber, which Chrysler engineers developed as a lower cost alternative head for their V8 engines. The Polyspherical head needed less metal and was narrower due to using only one rocker shaft. This saved costs in material, space and warranty claims and allowed it to be used in smaller vehicles.

Re: Can It Beat A Hemi

Are the SRT-10s "hemis" too?

nice kill btw.
I love the dodges that have the hemi stickers and crap in the back window.
Hell my 318 4 cyl BMW was hanging with one of those lifted hemis the other day.
I have to drive right by the chrysler plant to get to my house so at shift change every mopar driving idiot within 3 counties is on the road at once.
Maybe you saw it on teh news, the Minivan plant in Fenton, MO that just got schedule for shut down in 09.
They are picketing and marching on DC in detroit over it all.

Same here. It always amazes me the crap people think they can do. Maybe I just don't get out enough. I had a guy in the Magnum? (kind of a cockroach looking thing?) roll up to me asking if I thought I could take his Hemi. Didn't even have to launch on the guy.

Be careful boys, the SRT-8 Jeep's a Hemi too. That one...of the Hemi's, is the most difficult. I agree, the SRT-10 Ram is slow. Stock for stock I'd give it to the Jeep.

Yeah, the only stock Hemi that would definitely have my number in a street race is an SRT-8GC. Those things may be heavy, but they are no joke.

I ran some douche (revving his motor, weaving through traffic and otherwise acting like a bastardhole) in a Hemi Ram shortbox. I heard tire squeal for about half a second until he was half a bus behind me at the other end of the intersection. I kicked his ass again at the next light (both times at 0-2psi boost launches). Some people are slow learners, I guess.

LOL. That's a great way of describing them. Fugly for the most part, in my not so humble opinion, but the SRT-8s look much better.

An SRT-8 ?roach (with drag radials) ?might? give some of us lightly modded guys a run from a dig. From how your Ty launches though, I think they?d have to grip like hell out of the hole to keep up.

From a roll I think an SRT-8 would take me, but "rolls are for bakers and fat chicks". :rotf:

OMG I have to use that someday. Might be a while since the TY is down but thats a good one I've never heard.

I was telling my wife today that I can't stand the SRTX,X crowd because they always run around with snotty attitudes, their expensive Oakleys (or equivalent, is there one? ), looking like they are something special and that their shit doesn't stink. What made me laugh was her reply, "sounds like you right down to the Oakleys" :rotf: Kind of interesting but she is right, I am a lot like that. Maybe I should get an SRT vehicle. I'll have to start taking it easy on those guys
