Cant get starter out

Re: Cant get starter out

I didn't have room to mount it where it is shown above (right where the stock overflow bottle is), so I mounted it on the firewall, just to the left of where the is a distrubution block or something for 12V; 2 studs with power wires coming to / from them. Works slicker than hot snot out a chrome nostril.

Mine was up about an inch, and butted to the terminal block on the firewall. I really like the use of the other terminal on the solenoid as the junction block. I didn't know what that terminal did. Is it just a non-switched 12V or something? One said "S" and the other said "I"

I checked it with an ohmmeter and found it was not connected to anything. Dunno why it's even there. Maybe the same case is used for a different solenoid P/N where that terminal is actually used for something.

The"S" terminal is from the ignition switch and energizes the pull-in coil of the solonoid.
The "I" terminal is 12 volt source to the coil while the solonoid is engaged.{to by-pass the resistor in the ignition circuit}
This was the way it was intended to work originally on a Ford.

Re: Cant get starter out

How is the new starter working for ya? I had a huge fight putting our TC cover on, had to remove pretty much the whole exhaust system, and push the tranny lines out of the way without breaking them. No issues with the propshaft though.:2cents:
