Changes in boost

With my Ultimate boost tgt @ 17lbs I get a boost of 13.4 in first gear 15.7 in second gear 17.7 in third gear and I'm boosting 18.7 in overdrive @ 105 mph. How can the boost change so much. I get knock in third gear and the spark retard is 8 degrees.

The boost probably moves up and down as well. Do you have a Catalytic Converter?

It looks like an Ultimate to me.

What turbo are you running?
the ultimate will not work 100% unless your truck is pretty dialed in.
You have to have good ignition, good fueling and a properly adjusted wastegate.
It sounds to me like your wastegate is slightly out of whack, if you have a stock turbo that is.

I had great boost control with my ultimate until I went to a larger turbo.
Then it was roller coaster boost no matter what I did.

For me the answer was a boost valve manual controller until I can install an electronic.
