datamaster for dummies???

Ok i got datamaster on my laptop, i have the cable and everything, but im really computer dumb. I looked at it for a while and couldnt figure it out. Anyone wanna give me a quick rundwon on what im supposed to do.

What exactly is it that you're trying to do? DataMaster just shows (and optionally logs) what all your engine's sensors are seeing. You're not really supposed to do anything, other than look at it to see what your truck is/isn't doing...

yes i realize what it all does, so do i just open the program, start truck and press like record or whatever? What kinda numbers am i looking for in the MOST important areas? PLEASE HELP ME. Motor is now in my truck and my truck is now driving (not on the street) Id liek to make sure everything is under control before i go through anpother motor :)

Check the tuning forum for details on what readings should be where. It's going to be a lot more in-depth than just "A should be 7, B should be 250, C should be 1000". Different trucks seem to work well with different numbers even. One of the biggest things is knock retard, and you want that as close to 0 as possible. After that, there's a million things you can check with DM, from making sure the TPS is at 100% at WOT to making sure your TCC is being told to lock up and your A/C clutch is disengaging. I don't know much mechanic-wise, so all I can tell you is knock is bad!!!
