WOW, thats a ton of info.. I can't beleive that he managed to use 300 sq/ft of the stuff in a Honda Civic!!!

What kind of temps do you think the interior of a white typhoon would see after being parked outside in the sun on a 100 degree day?

I'm thinking that peel n seal would work just fine on the floor and maybe use RAAMmat BXT for the sides, doors and roof...

Yeah, my thinking exactly. The sun isn't hitting directly on the floor, it probably isn't going to get hotter than 140DF, ever. Of course, the fact that I already bought 100 sq ft of peel & seal may have something to do with my position

I'll probably use all 100 sq ft on the floor, and cover it with thick plastic sheet and tape the edges. Then save my pennies for 100 sq ft of RAAMmat to do the sides, doors and roof.

Good info, has me thinking seriously about whether to use the peel & seal even on the floor.

I guess it depends on where you live. I have the likely hood of getting transfered to Vegas and no way in hell would I put asphalt deadener in my truck where the interior of a black truck gets to almost 200 degrees in the summer.

I was at Lowes last night so I took a look at this Peel & Seal.. Its a lot thinner than I thought it would be... I think I will let you guys test it out over the summer and if you don't run into any problems I will install it in the fall...

Yeah, I thought the same thing, but when I went to the dynamat site, their thickness and Lb/Sq.Ft is very similar. I think the temperature thing is the main concern.

Re: Deadeners (dynomat, peel and seal, brownbead ect...

I went to Home Depot the other night to see it for my self, had the wife with me, anf found an off brand of the same thing. I had her smell it, (good sensitive nose). She said it had a "tarry" smell and that I should not do that as it may make the truck stink after time. That is some thing I really don't want. So it seems I gonna save my pennies and get the dynomat extreme. Besides it's only a half pound per square foot (50 sqare is 25 lbs.) and is the better product for the job. Ebay has some good prices if you buy a larger amount. :D

Thats the stuff I used. Chose to do one layer at a time.

Ive gotten pretty good at the interiors of these trucks. I can lend a hand anytime.

The stuff I have I did some testing on ... stuck about 2 square inches to the exhaust of my daily driver... it got hot enough that you couldn't touch it, took it a week to fall off during regular highway commuting ... no runs, no tar smell thus far

I also use Second Skin Audio products. IE http://www.damplifier.com/ that was mentioned. Ant knows his shit, gives great prices, and gives good tech support if you need it (plus has his own forum). I actulay work for best buy, and we get an insane employee discount on dynamat, and an even better price if we accomadate through dynamat. Second skin ended up still being cheaper than what I could get dynamat for (the spray on of dynamt retails for like 660 $ for 5 gallons.).

I've personally used Peel & Seel in a daily driver. I had 3 layers on the floor of my s10. Never smelled, never any problems. It was under carpeting so no worries about it falling off. I'd imagine inside a door, it would get hot, but, it's also benefits from ventilation.

I'd say the only place I'd be hesitant to use it is on the roof of the car.

Awesome article though.
