I would be worried about the cladding falling off and breaking during a boost launch.

I taped it all on when I brought it back from Maine, that idea came to mind when the passenger front arch came off while strapping it down on the trailer :rotf:

Is this just a donor truck for your others, or are you planning on saving it?

Hooooooooly...Both literally and figuratively. I'm re-thinking the desire to move to a colder climate. I really hate the summers here in AZ, but I think it'd be pissed if my cars left nacho doritos everywhere.

there is no saving it, if I could I would but this is going to sacrifice itself to save 3 other trucks from extinction.

I didnt realize how bad until I had actually got it home and saw the trailer covered in rust

 Hope you didn't pay more than $1,500 for that thing.

Someone enjoyed that thing in the snow and salt for a loooong time.

of course I did, the cladding alone is worth close to $3000.... well a little less since the rear bumper cover is crap, but it runs and drives just fine, drivetrain is totally unmolested, the only thing I wasn't truly happy about was the drivers seat, but it wasn't a deal breaker. Plus it came with a mint set of vintage Prime wheels which I will clean up and sell. but basically I bought it for fair parts value.

as previously mentioned, it was driven year round in Maine from 1993 - 2009.

Re: did my first boost launch in 9 years

Was it somehow the truck that applied all the salt to the roads during that time?

anything is possible, it did have a trailer hitch at some point and the rear of the truck is in far worse condition that the front.

It only took 90 mins to remove all of the cladding from the truck with exception to the front bumper.

not much point in saving this bumper support.

This is why I would only purchase one form the west coast. This thread makes me appreciate my Las Vegas find with zero rust, just higher mileage. I've been kicking myself over the mileage issue, but I think I'd rather have 150,000 miles versus major rust issues.
Somebody did enjoy quit a bit snow time in that truck though

Bottom of tailgate actually looks pretty good considering.

what's the inside edge look like? Maybe it was replaced at some point which would explain the goofy Typhoon font.

The tailgate isn't as bad as the main body, but its not worth saving for use on a good truck, its probably been replaced, I think the drivers door and fenders were replaced at some point as well. The quarters in front of the wheels both had patches put in, as did the lower skin of the passenger door.

The whole truck was repainted sometime in the mid-2000's, so all the cladding had been removed by a shop and reinstalled with various size rivets, Phillips screws and plastic push style pins. Just finished removing the front bumper and got all of the mounting brackets and pucks removed, she is just now a naked rusty body.

So did you enjoy the boost launch Morgan? Did it motivate you some more?

Seeing all that rust, I'm amazed your truck didn't turn into dust in the breeze!

I grew up in Mi. My uncle owned a junkyard among other auto business ventures. I started working there when I was ten. Used to see many a car that drove its way to the yard. Ran great. You could stand on the ground with the trunk open or inside the car. Seeing pics like this. I don't miss the cold, snow, or rust.
