I seem to have some very low timing values (4 - 7 adv)at WOT/full boost. Also the rpms are very low (3000) at 100% TPS.
Here's the scoop: 2wd with 3.08 gears, approx 1000 miles on rebuild, new cap and rotor (conrad), plugs and wires, 93 octane, high flow catco cat, dynomax muffler (all 3" behind a stock downpipe and rebuilt stock turbo), l35 heads, pitbull 137a chip. Fuel pressure is rising with boost at least 1 psi fuel to 1 psi boost. Timing has been set to "0" with the wire disconnected.

I am new at this so I am guessing I am missing something very obvioius.

Thanks,

MALF 42: EST Monitor Error
Your knock sensor circuit is not working properly. Bad sensor, EST Module or wiring?
So it's pulling timing out like crazy.

After clearing the code 42 it has never returned. I'm a little baffled but I'll check the knock sensor wires and make sure eveything looks o.k.
If I replace it, is there a torque spec? Seems like I once heard that getting the sensor too tight would cause false readings??? Could be an old wives tale.

Thanks

Well, one thing I notice is that your shifts are too low, as you mentioned.
The 3.08 gears might require you to recalibrate your governor to get it
to shift decent. Before you do that, though, try a pass while shifting
manually... say at 5000 RPM or so.

Your converter may be excessively loose, also.

The timing you're seeing is a result of being at high boost in really funny
RPM ranges of the chip... you're not supposed to have 15-16 psi at 2800
RPM in second gear. It's a good thing it doesn't have a lot of timing there,
it'll save you parts.

Long and the short of it- your chip isn't calibrated for the setup you have.
You'll either need to get the equipment to do your own tuning, or find
yourself a good tuner-for-hire.

Later,

Dig
