Dual piston calipers

It there a dual piston caliper that fits the OEM front wheels and caliper brackets without further modifications (direct bolt on replacements)?

Re: Dual piston calipers

SSBC has a direct replacement too. You could also swap spindles to 2nd gen with the dual piston cals.

Re: Dual piston calipers

2nd gen Blazer brakes are dual piston design and fit under 15" wheels. It's a sealed bearing hub assembly. It's a very simple swap.

Re: Dual piston calipers

The LS1 Camaro brakes fit under stock wheels. One of the best Mods ever!

So, just buy LS1 brakes for say a 2000 Camaro & they bolt right on w/no mods?

Brake hoses bolts up?

Just asking , because if my calipers need a rebuild, might as well switch to a better caliper.

No you have to modify the spindles and buy adapters and hoses. It's worth it. IMO don't mess around with better (dual piston calipers) and be stuck with thin undersized rotors.

Re: Dual piston calipers

Currently putting a list together for my truck, would like to upgrade the brakes with some of these packages from either SSBC or Willwood, but im looking for slotted rotors also, where can one find a set for the fronts?

Re: Dual piston calipers

You know what would be nice?

Someone prepare a spreadsheet with all the different calipers out there; what will work with what size diameter wheel, - what brackets/adaptors are required (eg Renz , RPM, stock) and where to get them.

Then the list can be referenced as a sticky and built upon as new set ups are offered or built.

:2cents:

There's a crap load of threads regarding caliper options, but it would be grossly efficient to have it on one page as a sticky.

Who's up for the task? :squint:

Re: Dual piston calipers

As mentioned above the LS swap allows the use of factory wheels. Renz's spindle mod instructions are very detailed to allow a novice like me to do it and make it work. Add the Hood ABS delete kit, and then do the LS rear disks...and you'll have waaayyy better brakes the what was offered with these trucks from the factory.

Re: Dual piston calipers

I'd like to get into this. I am at the limits of what the stock brakes can do.

One of my vices though is that I also run a set of 15 inch prostar's when I drag race. With that in mind I'm guessing I'm stuck with the blazer duel piston upgrade, although I think this would be a big improvment. Im thinking about going to a local yard with one of my drag slicks and seeing what they can fit on.

ls1 calipers will clear a 15 inch wheel on the front, just have to have the right offset
