engine build considerations

This may not be the 'exact' forum I should not be asking this question in....but because of the apparent experiences of some of the members here, I couldnt think of a better place.

Im kicking around the idea of swapping a motor in my 94/5 S10....and Im stuck between a semi-killer V6 and a small block....

I think the V6 would be cool and different, but Im also aware that building a tough (as far as ability to take the power) 4.3, especially the bottom-end, can be expensive. Im looking, after some time, to introduce forced induction and/or nitrous....but on just the motor I want to be able to make around 260-300hp at the flywheel. Fuel injection, Vortec Heads, more aggressive cam (with low overlap for my n2o/boost addition)

Anyway, since some of the members here have built serious 6's, I chose to come here. Any advice, information, links, ideas...hell, ANY input would be appreciated.

Thanks,
~Kevin

To build a 300hp 4.3 V6 N/A is no big deal. We've built a few 4.3's for toyota 4x4's that made and easy 250-260 with very lttle done to them. Some upgrades like a bigger cam, compression, and some ported vortecs will make that power easy.

As far as strenght goes a 4.3 block with 4 bolts, eagle rods and forged pistons is no more expensive than a V8 deal and this combo will take 600hp without too much problem.

You can base alot of pricing off what you see on our site for the SYTY turbo V6's

Hope this helps a bit.
